Poor Henry Cavill looks to be going the way of Brandon Routh and Tom Welling. Sure he has another Superman movie in the offing but his new flick, Guy Ritchie’s remake of 60s TV show “The Man from U.N.C;L.E,” opened to mediocre reviews and a box office of just $13 million.
How long before he is back on TV?
This will only be a minor mishap for Cavill, as one more superman film and two Justice League films will make people forget about this film. I quite liked it but can see why it hasn’t done so well, Armie Hammer on the other hand would best go to TV as this and the Lone Ranger aren’t helping his career as a leading man.
I think Man from U.N.C.L.E deserved a much bigger opening than it had. It was a fun spy movie with some good action and some clever plot points. I think it might have good staying power and decent international numbers that will make this a moderate success. It came out a bit too close to Mission Impossible, and that has proven to be a mistake.
