I’m really having a hard time arranging my BP predictions because I’m almost 100% sure there won’t be 10 nominees, but last two years we’ve only had 8 BP nominees, so now I’m wondering which movie should I put on 9th spot (I have silence #10 and I think I’m being generous).
Have a bad feeling about Arrival being left out, because I don’t think there’s such a passionate following towards it compared to other low spot possible nominees such as Hidden Figures, Lion or Fences.January 23, 2017 at 6:01 pm #1201993324
I’m also having second thoughts on my BP rankings but I feel very certain that it would have 8 nominees.

To me, Fences is the only question between a field of 8 or 9. My guess is that it’s 8.January 23, 2017 at 7:43 pm #1201993359

Got a feeling it will be 7 nomineesJanuary 23, 2017 at 8:56 pm #1201993378
10 nominees for sure.January 23, 2017 at 9:32 pm #1201993388
I’m feeling 9 nominees this year. There are three front runners and beyond that everything is either divisive or just above well liked. I think Arrival, Lion and Hacksaw are all definitely safe, with Hell or High Water, Fences and Hidden Figures all comfy as well. I don’t totally see any of them dropping. My tenth pick is Nocturnal Animals and I think that’s the only real potential spoiler here. Loving is dead in the water, which is a shame, and Silence, despite being great, keeps rubbing seemingly everyone the wrong way. My bet is nine, all nine comfy from the other awards.January 24, 2017 at 1:54 am #1201993471
Actors are gonna push fences in so 9January 24, 2017 at 3:39 am #1201993503
None of them also made PGA+WGA. And I know that there have been many examples of movies missing with those too. But this isn’t an eccentric cold genre like TGWTDT or a chick slapstick like Bridesmaids, it’s an adaptation of a respected piece of American history. It just isn’t cinematic in the least.January 24, 2017 at 3:52 am #1201993505
The thing that worries me about Fences is that it’s such an exhausting movie. You just feel so bad about everything in your life after watching that. Hard to imagine people flocking to put that at their number one when there were so many uplifting movies everywhere but we’ll see. It’s not even an artistically beautiful piece like other downbeaters like Amour. I agree that it’s probably at 9th.
