    would she win?
if so, would Lupita be a non factor and it would be Amy versus Jen?
if she were to lose, who would beat her?

Hi Beyoncé. I just wanna say, before we start, that I’m a huge fan of your latest album. Didn’t care for the other ones but this one is a gem. Flawless is amazing.

With that said, she would probably kick Sally Hawkins out of the nominees. And with an overdue narrative she would probably win. However I think she did the classy (most clever) thing and campaigned in Lead which feels important because it’s sort of a turning point in her career where she’s basically saying “Look at me, I’m a leading lady now” and that is a good transition after years of playing second field to other actors.

Adams couldn’t have been submitted in supporting actress for the Oscars because actors actually place the performers wherever they want. I believe it’s only SAG that will go with whatever category the studio is pushing the actor/actress for.

If she had been nominated in supporting (with the Comedy Globe on her side), I think she’d have been an easy win.

Beyonce, good luck on your future projects.

Lupita gained such amazing momentum that seemed like the 11th hour, but her win was likely “smoldering” before that. She was the “It” girl last year, and I dont think even Amy Adams could have defeated her.

Besides, Lupita had her on the Red Carpet. And isnt what they’re wearing one of the most important things? Lol

Btw, I dont listen to your music/work Beyonce. I know almost nothing about you. So wrong of me, n’est ce pas?

I think it would have secured Lupita’s win even more because I think there would be a good amount of vote splitting between Adams and Lawrence while those voting for Nyong’o would still have voted for her.

    1. Category Fraud Category Fraud Category Fraud. That was a 100% leading performance. She matched Bale’s screentime.

    2. HELL NO. Lupita, Jennifer, June, and Julia and even Sally Hawkins were far superior performances. Her performance was razzie worthy in my opinion. I love Amy Adams but I hated that performance soooooo much. She had no shot in lead against Cate and she would have had no chance against Lupita

Amy Adams was Razzie worthy in American Hustle? Strongly disagree. She was by far the best thing on that very ambitious yet even more uneven film. She was just so subtle and magnificent but had such a strong presence… If there was no Cate Blanchett last year she would probably have the Oscar by now. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

No Sandra would have taken that hands down if Cate wasn’t in. That accent was one of the worst accents ever matching Anne Hathaway’s horrible accent in One Day. I know I have the unpopular opinion but that performance made me want to barf. Adams was so amazing in Doubt and The Fighter even more in Enchanted but god, I wanted to cry that I had to suffer through that upsetting performance. Adams should be an Oscar winner by now, but for Doubt or The Fighter. Again, I know I have an unpopular opinion towards this performance, I just don’t see why people loved it

I would say Amy would beat Lupita,  she was quite a bit overdue and much more known. I think that would have overshawdowed Lupita’s newcomer status.  It would have been  horrible category fraud  and a horrible win since Adams was clearly a lead in American Hustleb and was fantastic despite the uneven handling of her character by the screenwriter.

This is one of her perfs that I really appreciated. I’m not sure I could single her out as “the best” from that ensemble, but she definitely had my interest whenever she is on screen. Without Cate it very well could have come down to Amy and Sandra. This is one time where I would have been happy to support the Communist Bloc of “wealth” spreaders (on paper at least).

I have liked Sandra Bullock since forever and have liked her even in her formulaic marginally crappy films, but her perf in Gravity makes me laugh. Without her or Cate it might be interesting speculating two spots in my own, biased mind. Brie Larson is one; and there are half a dozen others who would have deserved the other spot.

    1) There’s no such thing as vote splitting.

    2) Amy Adams is lead, not supporting, and yes, she should have won in lead.

    3)  Nyongo should have been a non-factor, but unfortunately, she won for the role and not for her acting, which was the definition of “fresh out of Drama school amateur hour”. She happened because she was very pretty on the red carpet, and they weren’t going to give Jennifer Lawrence a second consecutive Oscar. Also the Academy CLEARLY didn’t like ’12 Years a Slave’, but they have to give it a respectable amount or else they’ll be seen as ‘racists’, so they gave the film wins in things that it was borderline in. Oh and Best Picture, of course. It’s racist to suggest otherwise.

    4)  If Amy Adams’ role was supporting, which it’s not, and she was campaigned in supporting, which she shouldn’t be because she’s clearly lead, she would have easily won with Jennifer Lawrence still in #2.

    5) Did I also mention that Amy Adams was lead  in American Hustle?

Lol Yes but it’s so tiresome. She’s clearly lead. She’s not even in a borderline role.

At the same time, why don’t we imagine submitting Cate Blanchett in supporting? Would she have won in a landslide over Lupita Nyongo?

    Spoiler: YES.

Perhaps, especially if she wears feathers and animal skins and Lancome Skin Whitener makeup.
