We all know how much the internet is begging for the Academy to give Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar.
Whether its a blog, a vlog, a meme, or a gif; around Oscar season, even when he’s not nominated, little Leo isn’t far from the minds of the masses. All because he is Oscar-less.
But, that could change next year. His role in The Revenant could see him finally take home the gold statuette. The internet would literally break. (Not like that molecular hairline fracture Kim K tried to cause)
So if he did win, who would the internet be fan-boying over to seal the deal next?
Bradley Cooper? Ryan Gosling? Emma Stone? Johnny Depp?

Michael Fassbender. For me, anyway.August 26, 2015 at 9:21 am #193047
Isn’t everyone here Gaga over Gyllenhaal??? IMO he is not on the same level as Gosling and DiCaprio.August 26, 2015 at 9:27 am #193048
They will continue to wrongfully criticize the Academy for the lack of diversity in acting nominations, and completely overlook that the problem is institutional, and that roles just aren’t being given to people of colour. Sure, the academy deserves some of the blame, but the problem is much bigger than what a voting body thinks, as they are mostly reflecting an accurate view of Hollywood casting.August 26, 2015 at 9:28 am #193049
In a perfect world: Glenn Close. But the internet doesn’t care about older actresses who are more than overdue.
Male: Johnny Depp.
Female: Amy Adams.August 26, 2015 at 9:31 am #193050

Lol! I would say, yes, mostly. Not sure the internet would rally around him as much as say, Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller, Emma Stone or some other actor in their peer group….
Cooper has the Academy rooting for him already.
Gosling would be fine with me.
Dont get me wrong though; I’m not saying or implying that fans using the internet have bad taste or are wrong in their fandoms.August 26, 2015 at 9:36 am #193051
I think Johnny Depp would get the baton passed onto him.
One reason why the people demanding DiCaprio to win an Oscar love him so much is becaus they have grown up with him. From Titanic and The Beach, through The Departed and Gangs of New York, right up to Wolf of Wall Street.
Huge films, with huge followings regardless of critical reception. People just seem to love him.
Depp is arguably the closest to that. There are memes all over the Internet about the sheer range of characters Depp has played. People have grown up with him, and, when in the right film, he is a bankable film star.August 27, 2015 at 2:48 am #193052
I’d say Johnny Depp or Bradley Cooper. Granted, I’m currently picking Depp to win this year, which would mean they’d still have DiCaprio to freak out over.August 27, 2015 at 6:15 am #193053
I would guess that Bradley Cooper or Johnny Depp but RDJ comes to mind too.August 27, 2015 at 6:24 am #193054
If I’m right in believing that we’re talking specifically about young females, then I think Ryan Gosling is the most likely candidate.

Good question. Although Bradley Cooper has amassed four nominations, his first nomination was only three years ago. It has been twenty-two since Leo’s first, so I would say that Cooper actually feels over-rewarded right now. Nobody thinks that Emma Stone is overdue. Although Ryan Gosling has been one to watch, he only has one Oscar nomination despite four from the Golden Globes, so is hardly getting contiually close, plus his film choices are probably more interesting than his acting ones.August 27, 2015 at 2:10 pm #193056
Brad Pitt for acting because let’s be honest the internet doesn’t care about producing Oscars. I bet most don’t even know he’s won.
Tom Cruise, Matt Damon (for acting), and Johnny Depp are right there with him.August 28, 2015 at 8:49 am #193057
If he didn’t have streak of bad choices i would say Johnny, though same as Leo he will have a shot this year and i would say that overall he is actor of greater range then Leo. Bradley Coopers nomination for “American Sniper” wasn’t very popular, mostly cause he snubbed Jake Gylenhall. For me, Tom Cruise is one of the most underrated actors who should have one for “Born on 4th of July” so i will be rooting for him and Depp to win before Dicaprio, thouhg i woun’t have trouble withe Leo winning if he is the best, he just never was the best for me, maybe for “Django” but he wasn’t even nominated.August 28, 2015 at 11:00 am #193058
There are always going to be people demanding Oscars for their favorites, but no one could really take DiCaprio’s place. He’s been doing recognizable and acclaimed projects consistently for over two decades, and he’s been doing it from a young age. Even Depp fans know that half of his movies are rubbish, and Gosling’s picks are too experimental. Cooper, Stone… I just don’t see that happening, while their fanbase might demand recognition for them, it’s not going to translate into anything bigger than that. Gyllenhaal could maybe get there, but he’s not nearly as popular as DiCaprio. Interestingly enough, I see a lot of support for Gary Oldman, but ultimately he’s not young enough to become a widespread internet sensation.
So no, I just don’t see anyone taking DiCaprio’s place.
