Who do you think would be shoe-ins this year?
“Come and Get Your Love” – Guardians of the Galaxy
“The Hanging Tree” – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
“Stay With Me” – Into the Woods
Those would be big ones if you ask me. If you can think of any, let me know.

I think it would be a pretty ridiculous category most years, with musicals winning just about every year. For example, I think Last Midnight, Agony and Giants in the Sky would also be contenders this year, and Les Mis would have swept it two years ago. It is kindof just rewarding people for singing well, isn’t it?January 23, 2015 at 3:43 pm #175735
Yeah, I know that. But this is just a total hypothetical and all. I realize that this is kinda a stupid category but if this was okay and if it existed, I wanted to know what would be considered if the category existed.January 23, 2015 at 3:57 pm #175736
They shouldn’t even have a category for original song. Best adapted score would be more interesting.January 23, 2015 at 5:56 pm #175737
It’ll be a fist fight between any song from Into the Woods and Lana Del Ray’s cover of “Once upon a Dream” for Maleficent.January 23, 2015 at 7:21 pm #175738
I think it would be Stay with me.January 23, 2015 at 7:56 pm #175739
Don’t know about this year, but I’m sure “Please Mr. Kennedy” would’ve cleaned up in 2013.January 23, 2015 at 8:36 pm #175740
I personally keep a list of best covers in a movie list so songs sung by someone other than the original artist so none of the Guardians songs would qualify. My picks this year would be Last Midnight, Giants in the Sky, Your Fault, Stay With Me, Finale, Prolouge, and Agony from Into the Woods and Working My Way Back To You from Jersey Boys and The Hanging Tree from The Hunger Games. And just for the records, 2011 The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo cover of Immigrant Song would have been the winner hands down
