Elle Fanning’s electric presence on “The Neon Demon” promotional material make me think about how her acting resume gets more impressive with several good performances on display and possibly bright future in the business, whereas her older sister Dakota struggles a little bit to live up to the buzz created around her acting skills when she was a child.
There’s no question she paved the way for Elle somehow. I hope they’re close and there are no dead animals for dinner, car ‘accidents’ or melted ice-creams in their future but you get the comparision (even though Jane was younger than Blanche).
They’re both very talented but yeah, Elle is definitely getting better projects lately.
Somewhere, Super 8, Trumbo, The Neon Demon, About Ray, Maleficent, Ginger & Rosa + (upcoming movies with Coppola and Affleck dir)
The Benefactor, Very Good Girls, Night Moves, The Twilight Saga, Now is Good, The Runaways
Dakota played the title-role in a half-decent British film called Effie Gray recently, about her (non-)relationship with art critic John Ruskin. Not sure if it’s been released in the US yet. (Emma Thompson wrote the screenplay and also co-starred in it.)
But yes, on the whole I see and hear a lot more of Elle these days. Love the Hudson sisters comparison!
I see a future Oscar winner in Elle Fanning.
^^I wonder if Dakota Fanning was really in the race for that Oscar nod for “I Am Sam” or was it really just SAGs thinking outside of the box? I think they were never as against the odds as that year (at least for that category, although I was more impressed by Diaz and Fanning than Winslet and Tomei, TBH).
Faning was a factor in that race, she was everywhere.
I still believe Dakota is better, and even though Elle is picking good projects, they don’t always translate into good movies.
Well, they’re both very skilled actors. Young and barring the unexpected, both with bright(er) futures.
I suppose we can try feeding Elle/Blanche a decapitated budgie and step back to see what happens….
