Or are you doing some extra special baking or awaiting your delivery of oscar cookies from elenis – https://elenis.com/store/product/oscar-chocolate-chip/?cat=148.

While a lady has to watch her figure, surely one night of indulgence won’t play havoc with the middle section will it? Throwing caution to the wind, I’ve already made peanut butter cookies for the big night and been given a delicious triple layer box of Leonidas Belgium pralines for Valentines Day and hope there will be some left by Sinday – I’ve rationed two (of each, 2 cookies and 2 chocolates) per day or maybe 2 X 2 + 2.

Then I was thinking on getting some Baskin Robbins on the way home one day, then making some caramel popcorn – although truth be told, the amount of butter and brown sugar the recipe is calling for is terrifying me… may just opt for the popcorn on its lonesome.

Then maybe a big ole bag of buffalo wing and blue cheese potate chips.

I’ve been doing some homework this part weekend and watched the oscar animated shorts at TIFF Bell lightbox. Although 5 are nominated, they actually showed 7, perhaps incl the shortlist? Then will do my best to see the nominated live action shorts. I’ve voted for the Indie Spirit Awards so watched all those screeners. And I’ve started watching some TCM Oscar classics – the astonishing The Crowd (best pic nominee from the silent era… isn’t it fascinating that the oscars go back that far, even if celebrated the silents are the very end and at their zenith), Smash Up: Story of a Woman (a partying, drinking kinda a gal so right up my alley!), The Virgin Queen with Bette Davis and have some to watch this week (Sunrise, maybe Wings tho saw that recently, have a hankering for Now, Voyager) then will go to my World Contemporary Surprise screening this Sunday and possibly lunch with a friend before settling in.

Then the best part – throwing everyone outta the house but the dogs, so I can curl up on the couch and get to watching the red carpet!

    So what are yer plans?

I enjoy rewatching old Oscar acceptance speeches on youtube. I’ve gone through Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor so far. I’ll be starting Best Actress tonight and then finish with Best Actor.

Ethel, no Oscar “party” for me this year. But, I hope you remember all of my Oscary tips from years gone by? Bite the head off of the cake for me.

Ethel love, be sure to cart about enough butter. You’ll need to keep the wheels on your walker slickly greased to make all those soirées!

Hypo! You cheeky monkey. How’ve you been you devil?

Remember the good old days, when we’d lunch at the Ivey and dine at Spagos (pre renovation) and have a nightcap at the Tower bar on Oscar day? I adore Wolfgang almost as much as you not to mention the divine Dmitri Dmitrov! Enjoy the Oscars and look for me gliding along the carpet, dripping in diamonds and emeralds!

Oh, peaches, I am always looking for your dazzling derrier draped in taffeta and tulle. The champagne flows freely here! How are you enjoying the red carpet?
