Wait a tick…
How did I miss this? Brad Pitt is producing a second adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ novel “Blonde,” based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. Chastain is attached to star. How is there little to no chatter about this?June 4, 2014 at 12:51 pm #154372
I read about this a month ago when this just awful news came out.June 4, 2014 at 2:04 pm #154373

Is it awful because it’s another Monroe biopic or are you unhappy with the casting of Chastain?June 4, 2014 at 3:34 pm #154374
I was just thinking the latter, but I guess both.June 4, 2014 at 4:18 pm #154375
This sounds definitely much interesting than “My week with Marilyn”.
This is more Norma Jean and less Marilyn Monroe. Psychological, think.
Andrew Dominik + Jessica Chastain + Norma Jean = I’m there.June 4, 2014 at 5:07 pm #154376
Is there some strange box office aura around Monroe that is lost on me? I have zero interest in anything about her, unless it’s a movie with her acting in it. I like Chastain, but I don’t see why this is being made.

Well, I really like Andrew Dominik. I would watch this for him. Chastain as Marilyn….ha. Chastain as Norma Jean…I can buy that.June 4, 2014 at 7:48 pm #154378
I don´t care for the movie, but I´m really excited about Chastain. PERFECT choice. Goes without saying that she is gonna act the crap out of that role, and for those who say she doesn´t look like her, well, have you seen the help? She can certainly look the part.June 4, 2014 at 9:28 pm #154379
Horrible, horrible idea, and so soon after what’s-her-name played Marilyn. Personally, I feel no matter what the film’s pedigree, it all ends up as cheap and tacky exploitation. You might as well get Lindsay Lohan to play the role. Marilyn Monroe was truly unique and special, and no actress can ever really capture her magic.June 5, 2014 at 7:28 am #154380
too much Marilyn biopic for me
but Chastain as Monroe is a big YES for me, just another reason to see her “versatilty”June 5, 2014 at 7:57 am #154381
I think Chastain’s going to be great in this role and strong source material. She’s already had a trial run of sorts with this performance too.
