I am going to make a ballsy prediction that Jon Hamm will be nominated for Best Actor for his role in Million Dollar Arm.

Similar to Bullock in The Blind Side, I think a likeable performance in a family-friendly film is going to send the well-liked actor to the Kodak.

Alan Horn has said the movie tested higher than any other film of his career – including Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone.

No. And it’s the Dolby now.

I’ll laugh out loud if Alan Arkin is the one who gets most of the attention. And in a good way.

You can only hope he gets more traction than poor Harrison Ford.

Hmmmmmm I dunno about this. Sandra Bullock was a film star who had had some critically acclaimed work. Also, The Blind Side opened at a very Oscar-friendly November release.

Million Dollar Arm is being released in the “meh” second quarter, and Jon Hamm isn’t really embraced by the film community yet, but he will soon. So I don’t really see Hamm getting in at the Oscars.

I would love it if Steve Carell went Supporting, and Hamm got in Leading, and both won – like “screw you, Emmys! We’re Oscar winners now!”

If Jon Hamm has some domestic issues and it’s sympathetic to him, gets voted Entertainer of the year, adopts a baby and Million $ Arm makes upwards of half a billion dollars, and the planets align and he puts in decades of entertaining, profitable work in films, then who knows?

To be fair, Sandra’s domestic issues and the reveal of her adopting a baby happened after her Oscar win…so Hamm can take those 2 things off his checklist! haha.

Well… Theoretically everything is at least possible. Even the repeat of SaBu’s fortune story of 2009.
(a rare case, no one comes close, not even Julia Roberts)
I just don’t think Jon Hamm will archieve that in the slightest.
    But really… who knows?

The Blind Side was also nominated for Best Picture, so there was more love for the film than just Bullock. I don’t see Million Dollar Arm being a BP nominee not only because of its release date, but because of the Disney factor. No live action Disney film since Mary Poppins was nominated for BP, and I was someone who thought Saving Mr. Banks would get nominated across the board, but it didn’t, and that was with a December release. I don’t see this film having any nominations, unless it has a good original song or score. Hamm in actor is certainly a stretch.

Comparing a great actor, Jon Hamm to a lackluster actress, Sandra Bullock, is like comparing The Empire State Building to a tepee.

They did show the film at CinemaCon and the word of mouth is good so it maybe possible. Tom McCarthy (Up, Win Win & The Visitor) is the writer so like I said it maybe possible.

I doubt it. I like Jon Hamm but there is already, this early in the year, at least Tom Hardy and Ralph Fiennes who can expect nominations. And if there is any justice, Ellar Coltrane deserves a Best Actor nomination far more than Q. Wallis did in Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Hamm’s a good actor but I wouldn’t expect any great performances out of him.. which leads me to: I just checked on the imdb to try to find the name of a film I saw him in (he’s done 90% TV I noticed) and, my God, Hamm has another film role coming up.

James Franco is filming (according to the imdb) Faulkner’s Sound and the Fury. Say it ain’t so. And Franco’s cast himself as Benjie. No. No. No. No. Somebody stop that little megalomaniac.

IMHO, Hamm has done nothing to make this an apt comparison. I doubt ‘Million Dollar Arm’ changes that.

Dont think so. Not in his case; although the $ucce$$ of  Bridesmaids probably wont hurt him, regardless of the dickwad he portrays. He’s a dick in The Town, Sucker Punch, and The Day the Earth Stood Still as well (imo, lol). Is he a major dick in Mad Men as well?

    Just wondering.
