Ah, the Wachowskis.

Looks awesome! I’m always down for whatever the Wachowski’s cook up, and especially after ‘Cloud Atlas’, I will follow them anywhere, no matter how crazy it may be (the crazier the better!).
I’ll watch any shit those two brothers do! “The Matrix” will be forever and ever one of my favorite movies of all times.
Like the cast. LOVE the visuals. Not bad Wachowskis’, not bad at all.

When I left the theater I didn’t know really how I felt about this movie but after giving myself some time to really think about it, I had a good time. It has some flaws but the fun outweighs it. Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum are great during the action scenes and can really kick ass. The visual effects, sound, score, art direction, make up, and costumes are all wonderful here. My problems come with the story itself being a little jumbled at times with mythology which I sometimes like but they weren’t very clear about certain things. Eddie Redmayne. Boy, what on earth were you doing in this movie? He sounded like he was trying to do a bad impersonation of Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies whispering all his lines UNTIL HE NEEDS TO YELL. It really got cringeworthy at points knowing that he has an Oscar campaign in progress and this is not helping (though it is not his fault this movie was supposed to come out last July). There are some great supporting players here as well but the action scenes are fun to watch and when this movie plays on its weirdness, it really works. It’s the times where it doesn’t fall on its weirdness that it kind of falls flat. If you are into science fiction and want a fun time, see it. What I hate about critics of these directors, the Wachowskis, is the fact that they put their current movie up against their first film The Matrix which is so unfair. I don’t have that baggage since I haven’t seen The Matrix but I think it’s always a cheap shot to these directors when all the review says “it isn’t as good a The Matrix”. Don’t compare this movie to anything, well except maybe Star Wars because there were a bunch of shots that looked shot for shot remakes of Star Wars, but don’t compare stories or worlds. This is its own thing and if you can dig it you’ll have a good time. 4 stars
