What a year for actresses! This year’s Best Actress race was leaps and bound ahead of last year’s imo even if some of the best leading females were forced to pull a few cheats. Anyways, from this group of actresses, who was the most deserving of a nomination?

My personal pick would be Charlize Theron’s now iconic Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Emily Blunt from the list, and Maggie Smith as well. Both made my personal top 5 alongside Larson, Blanchett and Ronan.

Elisabeth Moss – Queen of Earth
    Laia Costa – Victoria
    Olivia Wilde – Meadowland
Arielle Holmes – Heaven Knows What
    Nina Hoss – Phoenix

All better than the likes of Brie Larson, Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence. Voted for Bel Powley though.

Tomlin, though Blunt, Danner and Theron were marvelous as well.

The best performance of the year arguably was given by Nina Hoss in Phoenix. It’s on Netflix if you guys haven’t seen it and aren’t averse to foreign language films.

Brie Larson is my winner and the final lineup is fine as is. No one stands out as being denied in the female acting categories this year.

On the men’s side I would add a lot of color.

No. Take Jennifer Lawrence out of the equation and put in Alicia Vikander and the lineup would’ve been one of the best in years.

Thought i’d be the first to mention Nina Hoss but glad to see shes come up a couple times. Out of these choices I only saw a few (Binoche, Blunt, McCarthy and Theron) but I wasn’t really blown away by any of them, honestly might even give McCarthy the vote out of the bunch. But I’ll go with other because Hoss is my pick. Definitely would reccomend the movie.

I hate Lawrence with a passion. But in fairness, I saw Joy, and felt her work was stronger than her previous outings with Russell.

It was better than American Hustleand probably transitioned a little more than SLP. That still shouldn’t get a Best Actress nomination.
