The long-rumored remake of A Star Is Born starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper has been officially greenlit, and will start filming next year. Bradley Cooper will also be making his directorial debut with this movie. Beyonce was originally sought after for the lead female role, but was rejected when her salary demands were too high. This will be the fourth film version of A Star Is Born, following the 1937 version starring Janet Gaynor and Frederic March, the 1954 version starring Judy Garland and James Mason, and the 1976 version starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. http://deadline.com/2016/08/bradley-cooper-lady-gaga-a-star-is-born-warner-bros-remake-1201804358/August 16, 2016 at 6:13 pm #1201908791
I do not think that we need another version of this movie.August 17, 2016 at 3:34 am #1201909068
The Queen will get a Golden Globe Musical / Comedy nomination, an Oscar nomination for Original Song and a Razzie nomination for Worst Lead Actress considering the latter group nominated her for a cameo, they are pressed.August 17, 2016 at 6:57 am #1201909134
This could be good. Honestly, I think they casted really well for this. Would have perfered to see Beyoncé in the lead but Gaga is a good choice too.August 17, 2016 at 11:24 am #1201909282
See, I think this has the makings of a cult classic, like Mommy Dearest and such. It just seems like it will be a bad film. Novice director with a novice lead actress who (to me) was not successful in her big acting debut (although there wasn’t much redeeming about Hotel to me), and I usually like Bradley Cooper, but I’m not expecting much.August 17, 2016 at 3:02 pm #1201909382
Yeah, this will probably be bad. I’m hoping Lady Gaga does a better work here than on AHS because it’s a musical.
The songs are probably going to be good, at least.August 18, 2016 at 12:23 pm #1201910003
I think it will probably be pretty poorly received but could become a cult-classic “Mommie Dearest” type of thing.
I don’t anticipate this getting good reviews at all and certainly it will not be an award contender.August 18, 2016 at 2:13 pm #1201910044
This could be a Golden Globe contender. However, I’m worried about Bradley Cooper being the director. Had a more established directorial name been attached I’d be more confident in the quality of the film.August 18, 2016 at 4:54 pm #1201910107
At best, maybe Cooper can pull off a Yentl.

It seems likely to be a pile of garbage but I hope he at least makes garbage we can laugh at/have fun with. Nothing worse than a terrible movie that takes itself too seriously.August 18, 2016 at 5:16 pm #1201910115
I wish Baz Luhrman was the director here, this type of story with these actors seems made for his wonderfully hammy, musical, over-the-top style.November 30, 2016 at 4:13 pm #1201959154
A Star Is Born has set a release date of September 28, 2018. http://variety.com/2016/film/news/lady-gaga-bradley-cooper-a-star-is-born-2018-1201914251/March 31, 2017 at 5:35 pm #1202051879
Some major casting news has been announced in the last few weeks. Sam Elliott has been cast as the manager of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s characters, while Andrew Dice Clay (yes, that Andrew Dice Clay that was once banned from MTV for life) has been cast as Lady Gaga’s father.
