I looked for the upsets thread and could not find it, so I decided to start a new one and with a poll from which to vote for which category (out of the ones I find most interesting) you guys predict will be the major upset of the night.

I started this thread because I had a dream last night/this morning that Ms. Streep won for The Iron Lady. I never dream and I’m rooting for Viola Davis, so I found/find this peculiar.  So, mine:

BEST ACTRESS – Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady

    Now yours!

BEST ACTOR – George Clooney, The Descendants

The Academy doesn’t like newcomers in this category. Clooney is loved by Hollywood and I think he’ll pull off the upset.

BTW, Meryl winning would not be an upset. Her and Viola are equal on the playing field right now. Either could win and I would not be shocked.

How does one determine “her and Viola are equal on the playing field…..”?

^^^B/c they’ve both one a handful of precursor awards and they’ve both received a tremendous amount of buzz.

And I rebut with “How does one determine one is ahead of the other?”

I don’t think it can be done with any type of accuracy.

::sigh::  I wasn’t trying to start an argument or debate on this topic (again).  The reason I call Ms. Streep an “upset” now is because most critics and journalists are predicting Viola Davis to win.

So BEST ACTRESS is winning in the “last minute huches”… hm.

I’m scared to say I do think Ms. Streep will win this.

    We’ll see!
