Probably a dumb question. Sorry.
Should I make all of the other picks for a category as well as the winner? Like I have Viola winning Suporting Actress. Should I put the other nominees in places 2-5?
The other thing I was wondering about, is how I should go about using my super bets. I guess my first question would influence this. I am not sure I should place a super bet on a category like Best Supporting Actress which will surely be Viola.
Thanks. I think that if I pick Viola for example for that category and put no other nominees in the other spots, I’ll get 100 points? And if I fill them all in and she wins, I’ll only get 20?
Super bets are more for your boldests picks, so you can collect more points if they are correct.
Unless you live life on the edge, you should fill in the other categories. They don’t hurt for putting the eventual winner first, they act as insurance in case you guess wrong. If you correctly pick the winner, then your point haul is 100 x Derby odds. So if the odds are 2/1, you get 200 points. If the odds are 1/2, you get 50 points. If you place the eventual winner in second place, you get 25 points no matter what the odds, third place gets 10 points, fourth gets 5, fifth gets 4. I don’t know what happens beyond that if you guess really poorly for Best Picture.
This means that if the winner has 1/10 odds, you would get 10 points for placing it as the winner and 25 for placing it second. However, you should still place it in first, because the GoldDerby leaderboard rewards you more for accuracy than points.
Lastly, I always place Super Bets on the ballsy picks I feel most confident about. Don’t just place it on something with high odds. Make sure it’s something you have a strong feeling about
