Furthermore, an Honorary Goya is presented at each ceremony, an award for the lifetime work of a filmmaker in any discipline. The Board of Governors selects the winner in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to cinema.

What’s your thought of this year’s edition? Who do you think will win? Which films and nominees do you personally prefer? Here can be found the nominees http://www.rtve.es/noticias/los-goya/nominados/, as well as at the awards website http://premiosgoya.academiadecine.com/nominados/. It obviously should be mentioned that both the most nominated films , La Isla Minima and El Nino (with 17 and 16 nominations each accordingly), can be attained via torrents and thereafter watch with the help of subtitles. Am not sure with the availabilit of other films, though I’ve also managed to download and see the following films: AUTÓMATATODOS ESTÁN MUERTOSOCHO APELLIDOS VASCOS, Would be extremely grateful if be advised later on where other main films nominated like Loreak and Magical Girl, Relatos Salvajes and MusaraÑas can be accessed with a view to see them.

First of all, I have to say the fact of “Ocho apellidos vascos” (the best spanish movie, not only of the year by far, but the best film made in a long period of time in the last years) being snubbed (over such mediocre films like that group of the same old and bad acted thrillers of the year) seems a joke, a really bad taste joke (also the snub of great and smart comedies such as “Carmina y Amén” is a nonsense). Anyway, at least “Ocho apellidos vascos” is gonna win 4 or more Goyas.

These are the ones I think should win among the nominees:

    – BEST PICTURE: Relatos Salvajes (brilliant film, also nominated for Best Foreign Language film at the Oscars).
    – BEST DIRECTOR: Damián Szifrón (Relatos Salvajes).
    – BEST ACTOR: Ricardo Darín (Relatos Salvajes).
    – BEST ACTRESS: Barbara Lennie (Magical Girl).
    – BEST SUP. ACTOR: Karra Elejalde (Ocho apellidos vascos). IMO the best supporting acting of they year, nationally and internationally .
    – BEST SUP. ACTRESS: Carmen Machi (Ocho apellidos vascos).
    – BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Relatos Salvajes.
    – BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY:  Anochece en la India
    – BEST OUTSTANDING DEBUT BY AN ACTOR: Dani Rovira (Ocho apellidos vascos)
    – BEST OUTSTANDING DEBUT BY AN ACTRESS: Yolanda Ramos (Carmina y Amén).
    – BEST OUTSTANDING DEBUT BY A DIRECTOR: Carlos Marques-Marcet (10.000 Km.)
    – BEST FILM EDITING: Relatos Salvajes.
    – BEST PHOTOGRAPHY: Ocho apellidos vascos.
    – BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN: El niño.
    – BEST ORIGINAL SONG: “No te marches jamás” (Ocho apellidos vascos) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgzwm8iE4Kk
    – BEST COSTUME DESIGN: Autómata.
    – BEST MAKE-UP: Relatos salvajes.
    – BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS: Torrente 5
    – BEST SOUND: El niño.
    – BEST ANIMATED FEATURE: Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy el Cahondo.
    – BEST IBERO-AMERICAN PICTURE: Relatos salvajes.
    – BEST EUROPEAN PICTURE: Ida.
    – BEST SHORT DOCUMENTARY: Trato preferente
    – HONORIFIC GOYA: Antonio Banderas (this is 100% sure since it has been announced. I think it’s deserved).

These are the ones are going to win:

    – BEST PICTURE: La isla mínima.
    – BEST DIRECTOR: Alberto Rodríguez (La isla mínima).
    – BEST ACTOR: Javier Gutierrez (La isla mínima)
    – BEST ACTRESS: Bárbara Lennie (Magical Girl).
    – BEST SUP. ACTOR: Karra Elejalde (Ocho apellidos vascos).
    – BEST SUP. ACTRESS: Carmen Machi (Ocho apellidos vascos).
    – BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Realtos salvajes.
    – BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY: Anochece en la India.
    – BEST OUTSTANDING DEBUT BY AN ACTOR: Dani Rovira (Ocho apellidos vascos).
    – BEST OUTSTANDING DEBUT BY AN ACTRESS: Nerea Barros (La isla mínima).
    – BEST OUTSTANDING DEBUT BY A DIRECTOR: Carlos Marques-Marcet (10.000 Km.)
    – BEST FILM EDITING: Relatos salvajes.
    – BEST PHOTOGRAPHY: La isla mínima.
    – BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN: La isla mínima.
    – BEST ORIGINAL SONG: “No te marches jamás” (Ocho apellidos vascos).
    – BEST COSTUME DESIGN: Autómata.
    – BEST MAKE-UP: Relatos salvajes.
    – BEST SOUND: El niño.
    – BEST ANIMATED FEATURE: Mortadelo y Filemón.
    – BEST IBERO-AMERCAN PICTURE: Relatos salvajes.
    – BEST EUROPEAN FILM: Ida.
    – BEST SHORT DOCUMENTARY: Trato preferente.

“Relatos salvajes” is above the rest by miles, but the Goyas are so parochial and self-centered that they will never allow to award as Best Picture a memorable Argentinian movie over a mediocre Spanish movie (it’s not the first time this has happened: who can forget the win of “Celda 211” over the masterpiece “El secreto de sus ojos” ? (at least “El secreto…” was awarded with the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film)).

“La isla mínima” is a forgettable, ordinary and bad acted film (I have not seen such a worse actor than Raúl Arévalo). In America this film will be a triumph at the Razzies, but in Spain it will win a lot of awards for sure . No one is going to remeber “La isla mínima” for anything, honestly. Is like a bad TV movie.

Goya official results from tonight. As expected, the results were as I predicted and not as I wished (thought, I’m so happy for the wins of the three actors of “Ocho apellidos vascos” and the win for Best Ibero-American Picture for “Relatos salvajes (Wild Tales)” ):

In pictures, my personal favorite moments of the award ceremony:

Relatos salvajes (Wild Tales) winning best Ibero-American Picture:

Karra Elejalde winning Best Supporting Actor:

Dani Rovira winning Best Debut Actor:

Antonio Banderas, Honorary Goya of the year:

The Spanish TV Star Carmen Machi winning Best Sup. Actress:

The ceremony can be watched full at the official website of the public spanish television TVE. Here’s the link (the full video is in spanish, evidently ): http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/videos/premios-goya/ (however I don’t recommend to see it. It was as boring as he–,  and with no comparision about what the espectacle, the talent and the humor Oscars are).

Small clips and higlights can be watched here too: http://www.rtve.es/noticias/los-goya/
