This is the second round of my newest poll series, the first love or loathe was Helen Hunt in As Good as it Gets and surprisingly the performance was loved more than loathed, now my second edition is Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman, personally imo he did not deserve a nomination let alone a win, what did you guys think?

    Previous Result

Helen Hunt in ‘”As Good as it Gets”
    Love-66%
    Loathe-34%

For the future I dont want anyone taking on my poll series as their own like the lead or supporting for Meryl poll which I did not create.

Please leave suggestions as well, thanks.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean.

I dont loathe his perf. I was no big fan of the film, but Al deserves an Oscar somewhere. Such as, back in 1972. But I didnt love it, so I went with the surprising unanimousthusfar “loathe” .

I don’t dislike the film or his performance, but of the two options I am much closer to loathe than I will ever be to love. So… There ya go.

I believe sab227 is referring to the thread for The Devil Wears Prada.

That is what I am referring to, I started the poll series and I would like to continue it, not have other people continue where I left off.

My personal Best Actor line-up, so far:

    1) Denzel Washington, Malcolm X
    2) Jack Lemmon, Glengarry Glen Ross
    3) Robert Downey, Jr., Chaplin
    4) Stephen Rea, The Crying Game
    5) Harvey Keitel, Bad Lieutenant

    6) Tim Robbins, The Player
    7) Clint Eastwood, Unforgiven

    —-

Pacino’s character is enjoyable in parts, particularly when playing off of Chris O’Donnell’s, and at other times it’s just too over-the-top. It does not come close to the caliber of the rest of the year’s contenders, or to Pacino’s work from the 1970s.

A little of both, but probably closer to loathe when compared to the rest of his work.

I knew that Pacino’s win isnt the most popular and that many feel is gaggable. But I didnt realize it was this bad with us here. I do know some people though who are huge fans, and saying that they felt vindicated by his advocacy.

    Go figure.
