Mad Max is coming out on Friday and the embargo has been lifted and the reviews are saying it is an action masterpiece! Lots of 5/5 and 4.5/5  and the equivalent 10/10 and 8/10 and so on. I personally haven’t seen the first films, I have the original at home to watch this week, but I really am excited for this one! Looks like a dark horse contender for production design, make up, sound, visuals, and maybe cinematography

I’ll be watching the original trilogy this week in anticipation. I’m really excited to see this one. It’s actually one of my most anticipated films of the year, and I don’t even know exactly what to expect.

12 reviews so far resulting in a 90/100 on Metacritic. Somewhat surprisingly, some are saying this is the feminist movie of the summer, and Charlize Theron is getting terrific reviews. Hardy is also getting good notices, but most of the praise is going to Miller’s direction, the cinematography, and the amazing action sequences/stunt work/choreography. I have my tickets for the 7pm showing on Thursday, I’m really excited.

Ridiculously Positive Reactions from Critics that I follow on Twitter:

‘Imagine a movie where Tom Hardy is the point of calm. Max’s re-enfranchisement is a triumph of barking-mad imagination, jaw-dropping action, crackpot humour, and acting in the face of a hurricane.’  EMPIRE’S 5 STAR REVIEW

Peter Bradshaw’s (The Guardian) 4 Star Review

‘In the battle of the 2015 behemoths, the maxed-out madness of Mad Max: Fury Roadsets an extraordinarily high bar – then pole-vaults clean over it and smashes the entire rig to smithereens’TOTALFILM’S 5 STAR REVIEW

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/film/mad-max-fury-road/review/ Robbie Collin’s (The Telegraph) 5 STAR REVIEW

James King & Nigel Floyd among other critics taking to Twitter to express their love for the film too

is also a stand-alone-reboot that restores one’s faith in anti-hero driven action cinema. (Nigel Floyd)

Well, Mad Max: Fury Road BLEW MY MIND. It’s kinda Fast & Furious meets Duran Duran’s video for ‘The Wild Boys’. (James King)

It is at 100% so far on Rotten Tomatoes with 19 reviews. Looks like they are getting them at a rapid pace throughout the day

Not just the male critics like it either.

Kate Muir in The Times gives it 4 Stars.

The link below allows you to read the first paragraph and a bit, unless you’re signed up to The Times online.

Some critics are calling it one of the best action films ever made and Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy are getting excellent reviews for their performances.

Encouraging. Wonder how this will compare with the ‘originals’, back when we all assumed that Mel, was quite sane.

Since you didnt say, “rewatching”, I think you may be in for a treat ET. The first one is raw and extremely low budget, but gooood. The second, slicker, but also gooood. The third is my favorite one, but it could be the ‘worst’ one in terms of critical response. Tina Turner makes all worth experiencing.

I hope you enjoy them! O, and by way of ‘warning’, Max just should not have a dog companion. Let someone else have him.

    Woo-hoo! Happy news.

Also, for anyone interested, Hitfix did an interview with prolific cinematographer John Seale. Fury Road was his first film in 5 years.

Thank you! Big fan of John Seale! His work on “Witness” really won me over.  I’ll check it out now.

This is in fact the first viewing for me. It has always been on my list, but never easily accessible. But I finally got the first two from the library, and I have a plan to rent the third. I have pretty high hopes, and especially since I’m not really expecting a ‘sane’ Mel Gibson given the title…

Hitfix is also getting the Oscar buzz going early, says with any justice this should be an easy choice for tech nods across the board, says that while Hardy is great, this is Charlize’s ‘Alien’.- http://www.hitfix.com/in-contention/lets-talk-about-all-the-oscars-mad-max-fury-road-needs-to-win

“And finally, Tom Hardy is a great addition to the iconography here. No question. But when you really boil it down, he’s sort of just there. (No disrespect to the hell he went through in those harnesses, being thrown this way and that throughout.) Rather, this is Charlize Theron’s movie, and it’s a strong female role in the middle of a film that has a razor sharp feminist edge. It’s her “Aliens.” That’s all I’m saying.”

And Villiage Voice becomes “that guy” that breaks the 100% at 30 reviews
