Every year there are 2 or 3 films that are the threats to win Best Picture, and usually those are the ones with the broadest support in the Academy across a number of branches. So let’s discuss which films are likely to be the major contenders getting the most nominations across a range of categories at the 2016 Oscars. Of note: since the 2010 increase in BP nominees, only 3 films have earned 5+ nominations without BP being one of them: 2012’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, 2013’s Skyfall and 2015’s Interstellar.

I’m curious what you think the 7 nominations are for Joy. Picture, Director, Actress, Screenplay… where are the other three?
