We have now launched the Makeup & Hair category for the Oscars predictions center. Let us know which three films will be nominated.November 16, 2015 at 12:36 pm #198373
Total weaksauce category this year. And I still resent that Holy Motors wasn’t nominated.
My guess is Jupiter Ascending (it’s pretty imaginitive, at least…), Mad Max and Star Wars. The Danish Girl is a possibility.November 16, 2015 at 12:51 pm #198374
My current predictions:
Mad Max: Fury Road
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
I would say The Danish Girl gets in. But its nod likely won’t be as flashy as the alien makeup on Star Wars or the pale war soldiers, Furiosa, etc. in Mad Max: Fury RoadNovember 16, 2015 at 1:08 pm #198375
I think too many people were mixed on Black Mass’ make up like they were with J. Edgar. Maybe not as negative as J. Edgar but I know alot of people that felt the make up was too distracting. I think Danish Girl, Star Wars, and Mad Max are going to be the ones. I would love if Jupiter Ascending was recognized because I enjoyed that movie more than most but the make up was really great. If The Lone Ranger can get in, I don’t think Jupiter can be written off completelyNovember 16, 2015 at 1:28 pm #198376
Star Wars, Mad Max and The Revenant will get in.November 16, 2015 at 1:43 pm #198377
I still wonder why this category doesn’t have 5 slots.
The Danish Girl
This category can have some of the wiredest nominations. Nothing is certain.November 16, 2015 at 7:06 pm #198378

Go “Cinederella”. I hope this amazing little family film will make it in many creative categories such as this, Costume or Production Design. Even Score which was brilliant.November 20, 2015 at 4:28 pm #198381
I could see Cinderella getting in especially for the lizard man before the ball plus all the great hair designs for the ball.
I think Crimson Peak is getting a boost here from Del Toro himself. He joined twitter recently and has been posting many pictures of the ghosts from Peak that I did not realize was practical effects I assumed they were digital. But it could be seen as being a little too over the top. Still I think his constant tweeting of the make up artist designs could help it get inNovember 20, 2015 at 5:18 pm #198382
When scenes come “out of the murk” in Hunger Games, just to mention it, the makeup and hair is impressive. Even the ‘crowds’ of people in the film have makeup on them….
Seems like an innocuous place for them to ‘reward’ HG with a nom for what it’s done for the industry….and not just with the Globes.November 20, 2015 at 5:20 pm #198383

Yes; it’s especially amazing if you’ve never heard of Cinderella before, and have never EVER seen another rendition of the beautiful, abused girl who is saved by a man…a prince.November 20, 2015 at 8:33 pm #198384
We should strive to make a difference. So, we can say, we do not waste one’s life and may leave, our footprints on the sands of time.
Cease to struggle, and life ceases.
The important is not success, but struggle.
No matter what you do, as long as you work hard, you are not successful.

The Academy has been snubbing THG franchise in this category for no reason, the make up is stunning! And as you say, even the crowds are full make up and costumes, and what to say about Tigris, oh my. The franchise has done some of the best makeups/hairstylings every year, and the snub was even worse with Catching Fire, when there were only seven submitted films.November 21, 2015 at 6:56 am #198386

It’s the same team working on the makeup and hair. They deserve a boost for their consistent works.
When I saw the makeup on the crowds I wondered if the actors put it on themselves….the sheer numbers seem pretty daunting…and I liked how they ‘changed’ Katnisses’ persona with that makeup.
Btw I looked twice to make sure Tigris wasnt CGI….
