    Deadline reports:

“Annapurna Pictures has optioned A House in the Sky, Canadian journalist Amanda Lindhout’s memoir about her 2008 abduction by rebel terrorists in Somalia, with aims to develop the project as starring vehicle for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo‘s Rooney Mara.

The New York Times bestselling memoir tracks Lindhout’s 15 months in captivity and the psychology, motivations, and desperate extremism of her captors who kept the  27-year-old reporterin chains, nearly starved, and subjected to abuse including torture and rape. Lindhout was taken at gunpoint in Mogadishu in August 2008 along with Australian photojournalist Nigel Brennan, translator Abdifatah Mohammed Elmi, and two drivers while en route to conduct interviews at a refugee camp. While Elmi and the drivers were released in January 2009, Lindhout and Brennan weren’t freed until their families paid ransom in November of that year after the two had spent 460 days in captivity.”

Thoughts? I am 100% on board with seeing this go on 🙂

Is Megan Ellison buliding up a female actor army? Rooney Mara, Jessica Chastain and Amy Adams have worked more than once in Ellison´s short career (plus Joaquin Phoenix)

Is Amanda Lindhout’s mother going to be portrayed in the film? Her story is arguably more interesting than her daughter’s.

Doubt it. Bigelow has that 9/11 project with Tom Hardy (all hail the king)

My honest reaction to this prospect is, I’d rather eat at McDonalds.

I’m sold. I love the story, and I think Ellison is a godsend. Rooney is fine in my book too. I hope it wins BP.

I’d honestly love to go to mcdonalds just to get one of their desserts. Those Mcflurries are the shit, especially when you dip french fries in them.

    I agree 100%

    When I watched the
Dateline piece on this story, I recall being so intrigued and even a
little horrified at what Amanda’s mother did and what she endured. It
would be a killer role for an actress of a certain age – if Rooney is
playing Amanda, Mary Steenburgen should play her mother.

But I also want to know who should direct it? If Bigelow were to it would make up the time Rooney and Bigelow would’ve had on ZDT. I could see maybe Paul Greengrass, David Ayer, or even Peter Berg!
