Throughout her career, to my knowledge, Meryl Streep has never opened an envelope at the Oscars and announced a winner.  She has presented Honorary Awards (Peter O’Toole, Robert Altman) and presented a Golden Globe, but never an Oscar. Do you think she will present the Best Actor Oscar this year which has become a tradition for the previous Best Actress winner to present?

Who presented the year after Sophie’s Choice? My guess is she will accept presenting Best Actor when she almost certainly will be asked..

I guess she’ll present this year. After all, it’s her third Oscar, and she hasn’t presented an acting category yet.

By the way, she also presented at the SAG two years ago when Jeff Bridges won Best Actor.

I hope she takes a year off if that’s what she wants. She owes no one anything.
It would be great if she is there if that’s what she wants – she always adds a lot to events she appears at. I’d love her to host the show some year.
But I totally understand if she chooses not to go to the trouble.

If she doesn’t present Best Actor, and she isn’t nominated (which I doubt she will be), she might just choose to announce the nominations. That’s what Mo’Nique in 2010 when she wasn’t able to make the awards show.

I think she WILL  present the Best Actor award.
I also think she will be part of the DUSTIN HOFFMAN
    KENNEDY CENTER HONOR.

I don’t think any of the previous year’s winners were asked for the 1983 Oscars (held in ’84).  Besides Stallone and Parton presenting Best Actor, Rock Hudson and Liza Minnelli presented Best Actress (would have been Ben Kingsley), Mary Tyler Moore and Timothy Hutton presented Best Supporting Actor (would have been Jessica Lange), and Gene Hackman and Dyan Cannon presented Best Supporting Actress (would have been Louis Gossett, Jr.).  Back then, it was much more common for the previous year’s winner not to present.  Nowadays it’s very rare.

Bottom line, I think unless she really doesn’t want to, she will present Best Actor.

    lol, when did that happen?!
I don’t think that’s going to happen cause she’s said it in interviews as well that she doesn’t particularly like him.

Of the two times she presented in the competitive awards, she had been nominated the same year as well.
SAG for Jeff Bidges – she was nominated for Julie and Julia
GG for Movie/Miniseries – she was nominated for Manchurian Candidate

Also, in the GGs, of the 25 noms and 8 wins, I don’t think she has ever presented in the following year.

So, unless they nominate her again, I’ll bet my money on her NOT presenting.

I thought she would be a great host too- and who would really complain if she did? I couldn’t see her muffing it up- though past hosts we thought would be great certainly did.

I wish Robin Williams would host again too.

I can’t imagine her saying no, also I can’t imagine her not presenting at Globes, she is a nominee this year and will therefore be there already.
