Miles Ahead is an upcoming American
    biographical film directed by Don
    Cheadle which Cheadle co-wrote with
    Steven Baigelman, Stephen J. Rivele
and Christopher Wilkinson , based on
the life of jazz musician Miles Davis .

The film stars Don Cheadle, Emayatzy
    Corinealdi and Ewan McGregor.

If this movie gets good reviews, Don Cheadle easily becomes one of the biggest threats of the season. The first still of the film was enough to get me excited.

^Agreed. And he’s been in a ton of films and tv shows and would have a wealth of support if his performance delivers.

Miles Davis….I listen to this man’s works all the time. I’ve been wondering about this film and will support it for several reasons outside of my fanship of the subject.

Here’s quite a question – if this wins Best Picture, won’t everyone who contributed to the crowdfunding technically be Oscar winners?

Closing NYFF is definitely a good sign I wouldn’t have expected from it, although the cynical side of me thinks it’s so easy to program given Lincoln Center’s connection to jazz history.

I think they did this just to fill up a slot since the big films aren’t ready. Maybe A24 picks up Miles Ahead? I am not too confident in this . Any thoughts on Cheadle as a director for this film?

I have Don Cheadle as a dark horse for Best Actor and closing the NYFF has been a good sign for plenty of Oscar contenders (Birdman, Her, Flight, etc.). So if he gets rave reviews, I think Cheadle will be a major threat.

Hmmm… Don’t know if this will be a mega contender, or a flop? I mean will it be a Ray or a Beyond the Sea?

Looks like this one WON’T be coming out this year, if what Anne Thompson says here is true:

SPC co-presidents Michael Barker and Tom Bernard have such a healthy awards slate for 2015 that they will not add this one to their awards docket, preferring to wait until 2016, when one-time Best Actor nominee Cheadle (“Hotel Rwanda”) could be a strong acting contender.
