Labor Day will hit the theatres soon and I couldn’t help but notice the how well casted was the younger version of Josh Brolin character (physically I mean). Their resemblance is uncanny.
The casting of Saoirse Ronan/Romola Garai/Vanessa Redgrave in Atonement was also well done.
Can you think of some other examples of inspiring cast? Or, on the other hand, not so inspiring? (Like that chick who’s playing the young Jessica Lange in the new season of American Horror Story, yuck!)October 31, 2013 at 9:33 pm #116550
Speaking of Josh Brolin, I thought he nailed his role in ‘Men in Black 3’ as the younger version of Tommy Lee Jones.October 31, 2013 at 10:34 pm #116551
Bea Arthur as Dorothy Zbornak and Lynnie Greene as the younger Dorothy in The Golden Girls.October 31, 2013 at 10:38 pm #116552

Sorry I just realized that this was the Oscar thread. I will then add Whoopi Goldberg as the older Celie and Akosua Busia as the younger Celie in The Color Purple.October 31, 2013 at 10:49 pm #116553
Hm, I suppose Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis in Looper?October 31, 2013 at 11:06 pm #116555
Also, I didn’t see The Debt, but I heard that some praise was given to Jessica Chastain for her portrayal of a younger Helen Mirren.October 31, 2013 at 11:26 pm #116556
Josh Brolin has something quite amazing about him and I don’t know what or why.November 1, 2013 at 1:24 am #116557

I don’t care that this is the Oscar thread, because you seriously picked the BEST example of this ever displayed on screen. BRAVA!November 1, 2013 at 3:26 am #116558
I don’t think Saoirse Ronan and Romola Garai bore much resemblance to each other. But Vanessa Redgrave did to either of them. She was also a convincing older version of Claire Danes in Evening, which leads to the inevitable resemblance of Mamie Gummer and Meryl Streep.
Jessica Chastain and Helen Mirren in The Debt didn’t work for me.
Lindsey Gort has been cast as young Samantha Jones in The Carrie Diaries. And that’s perfect casting.November 1, 2013 at 4:42 am #116559
Jason Reitman, after a Labor Day screening in Toronto I was at, said he couldn’t believe his eyes when Tom Lipinski read for the part of young Frank.
The resemblance is so great that a few people in the audience thought it was the result of makeup and CGI.November 1, 2013 at 5:27 am #116560
Doesn’t really count, because they’re sisters, but Taissa Farmiga played the younger version of Vera Farmiga in the film Higher Ground.November 1, 2013 at 9:14 am #116561
I thought they did a pretty good job in the great gatsby, although it seems to have partly been makeup and wigsNovember 1, 2013 at 10:57 am #116562
They did an amazing job in Peggy Sue Got Married.
