I have a huge collection of movie posters, autographs, etc. but my most prized possession is an original movie poster for “The Last Picture Show” which is personally autographed by Oscar winner Cloris Leachman, (for the movie nominated) Ellen Burstyn, and director Peter Bogdanovich (also nominated).  I have it framed above my television.  I would be interested in reading about other people’s favourite pieces of memorabilia.

I also collected movie posters and autographs. Right now, i have a whole room dedicated to the movies. Books about movies and books made into movies. Magazines and postcards. Glossy photographs of movie people. Looks like we can be soul mates!

I have only three autographs by Daniel Radcliffe, Alyssa Milano and Maggie Grace, lol.

Some day I plan to catalogue all my stuff, which I hope can help finance my retirement.

Some of the types of things I have:

A poster for Stop Making Sense signed by all former members of Talking Heads, despite the fact that when they signed it (10 years ago) they and David Byrne were feuding

A handwritten invitation from Robert Altman to join him for drinks

Invitations to parties for Sam Fuller, Michael Powell and Francois Truffaut.

A letter from Orson Welles’ personal attorney saying he couldn’t attend a screening of a late film of his, but giving the director’s best regards.

A glossy Star Wars promo book from early 1977 sent only to exhibitors, and very rare.

A couple thousand posters, mainly 50s-70s, and many thousands of still. Lots of press books/kits.

A tile from the Yellow Brick Road in the Michael Jackson The Wiz.

    Just scratching the surface here….

You have some great stuff! How do you find the space to store it all?

I have a big house and a two car garage with a lot of upper level storage (that’s where most if it is).

The fun part was the moving two crosscountry moves were paid for by companies who hired me which made it easier to do.

I also have more than 10,000 vintage 40s & 50s paperbacks (more than half of the titles produced) and over 17,000 feature films on various recording devices. Did I mentioned my complete original Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew collections?

It’s a burden I literally have to live with. What I need is a larger space in a less expensive area where I could have a huge room to put everything on display.
