Will they go down in history as Reese Witherspoon type wins?

Sad statement on roles for women in film when the “best” performances aren’t even the best among their own cast.

    Vikander acted circles around Redmayne

And, considering Redmayne was pathetic, imagine.

I was hoping some Ed Harris/Marcia Gay Harden in Pollock vibes, but the result was pretty disappointing. Still, Vikander was nice, some moments better than others, not good in a lineal way. I think she captured the “suffering” archetype and she committed to the role.

However, her Ava in Ex Machina is miles away of her Gerda Weineger.

The poster is obviously a troll considering the misspelling and being it’s first post. But here we go.

She should be winning for Testament of Youth, but this will do it, Eddie was great, but ye she towered all over him.

I don’t even think Reese Witherspoon was inferior to her male co-star, let alone Larson and Vikander.

I agree, This is Reese Witherspoon in Walk the Line all over again. I remember in 2005 when Joaquin Phoenix should have been getting all the awards and it turned out the other way around. In Room, Jacob Tremblay should’ve been getting all the awards instead of Brie Larson but Brie Larson is the one winning everything.

Yeah Vikander was the best thing about The Danish Girl. Admittedly, that wasn’t difficult given the general flatness that film had. Larson is equal to Tremblay for me in Room. Both deserve nominations and serious threats to win, alas it can only happen for half the dream team.

I sort of liked Vikander better after I saw her on the Sag awards. I’d never seen her speak as herself before and when she did I noticed how different she is from the character. (seemed like more of a performance somehow)

Seeing an actor in real life shouldn’t change your opinion on a performance they gave.

It does show how much they are actually acting though. Especially when accents are concerned.

Well if you say so, I guess it must be true. Sorry I didn’t get your rule book on how to think
