The fact that DBC took both the male acting Oscars shows a lot of support. The Academy went with Social Message No. 1 (Slave) and would have gone with Social Message No. 2 (AIDS).

LOL Oh my lord, now this is a barren list.

Should win: ‘Her’ by a landslide
Will win: ‘Wolf of Wall Street’

I’ll do the other categories too if the top three contenders were taken out:

    Director: Paul Green Grass
    Actor: Leonardo Dicaprio
    Actress: Cate Blanchett
    Supporting Actor: Jared Leto
    Supporting Actress: June Squibb
    Adapted Screenplay: Captain Phillips
    Original Screenplay: Her

So basically nothing would change. :/

I picked ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, but that was before actually reading it and realizing we’re supposed to choose the ACADEMY’S choice. Still, ‘Wolf’ could’ve won. If not it, then probably ‘Dallas Buyers Club’.

It would have been between Captain Phillips and Dallas Buyers Club. I think alot of people were stingy about Wolf of Wall Street. Philomena, Her, and Nebraska have their fan bases and so does Wolf, but Dallas probably would have taken it with 2 acting wins. The other categories would have been

Best Director- Either Paul Greengrass or Spike Jonze (if they were nominated)
    Best Actor- Matthew
    Actress- Cate
    Supporting- Jared
Supporting- Either June or Julia or if Oprah got nomianed for The Butler
    Original Screenplay- Her
    Adapted- Before Midnight

“Dallas Buyers Club” would have been next in line.

Her is my favorite of these, but The Wolf of Wall Street is not far behind.

Dallas Buyers Club would have won, which is a scary thought.

Omg you’re all right. DBC had passion behind it to actually win. If it was nominated in director, then there’d be no other choice. It is a scary thought.
