Two fold thread:

1) Anyone have any unusual nomination morning traditions? I just get up 5 minutes before the announcement, but that’s me.

Does anyone take the day off?

2) Can’t seem to find any network planning a half hours worth of coverage…E! lists the Kardashian nonsense on at that time tomorrow….any ideas or is it all online for the most part? or will networks cut in at 8 mins past the half hour?

I watched it on line last year. Almost always, I stay up all freaking night, because no way I’m getting up before the crack of dawn. Lol. Screw that.

I’m never alone either. That would suck if I was.

I’d call that unusual.

Fortunately, I work for myself so taking the day off isnt a problem.

I’m as anxious as ever about them, but not as anxious as in other years. So wine is generally a good option. Red. A Cabernet, Chateauneuf, perhaps a Sheraz or Merlot; as long as it’s red and dry.

It takes the edge off the feeling of their being somewhat ‘anti-climactic’.

Hope y’all enjoy them in any event!

Ah — I’m going to be at school all day — I leave before the announcements, and I have to stay after for a band rehearsal. I might check my Gold Derby profile around lunch to see what I missed (but I won’t check for what got in instead), possibly vent briefly to the closest-by friend who will listen about said misses, and watch the whole broadcast when I get home, like I have for the last two years.

With my schedule this semester I have Thursday’s off anyways. My thing is I have to watch the nomination press conference video first before I read the full list.

Tomorrow I am having a Nominations Breaksfast with:

Champagne & Orange Juice
Bagels & Cream Cheese

Can’t wait, I always try to have something every year – and this time is special because it’s all 24 categories.

I go to bed at like 1:30 am.  I wake up 20 mins before they start, so I make sure all my internet videos/cable (however I’m watching it) is working okay.  I watch them.  I try logging on the here after they’re done.  The site is slow as hell because a trillion people are on it at once.  I give up trying to read/comment and go back to bed.

Go to bed with fear of not waking up on time. Every year.

I watched it live on the Oscar’s website last year:

Last year I tried pulling an all nighter and only lasted until 3 EST, won’t be doing that again this year! Going to set my alarm early (~45 minutes before 8:30)

I get up super early every morning anyway, so I’ll get up as usual, grab my coffee, and patiently wait in front of my tv. Same as every year! Probably some cheers, some tears, some fist-shaking and cursing… Haha. Can’t wait.

I’m usually at school so I’ve always just done it when I’ve gotten home or sneaked a peak on my laptop or school computer. This year, however, school doesn’t start up again until next week, so I’ll be getting up early to watch (or at least that’s the plan).

I usually can’t get to sleep before- I’m often too excited  to be able to fall asleep.  These last couple years I’ve woken up  and watched them on the live streaming.  Probably will be doing that again.   So excited for them!! Only 6 hours away!!

In high school, oddly our “semester break” (one day) would always fall on Oscar nomination morning so I always felt like they did it just for me so I could watch the nominations. But then when they moved them earlier a few years ago I asked my mom if I could go into school late and she was ok with that. I told my art teacher why I was late and she laughed because she thought that was a cute reason on being late. Now that I’m in college, I had morning class last year and this year. Last year I got to school early to stream them but this year I think I can watch them on the Today show and still make it in time. My tradition is usually dropping my jaw and yelling at my TV/computer when things like Andrew Garfield “The Social Network”, Tom Hanks “Captain Phillips”, and Emma Thompson “Saving Mr. Banks” snubs happen or just going “huh” when things like Amour for Best Picture, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for Best Picture, and Alone Yet Not Alone for Song happen.
