Please use this thread to discuss Jon Favreau’s Chef.

I hadn’t seen a thread created yet, but it has recently opened, and currently has 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I saw it last night and loved it!  Very entertaining and funny, with thoroughly organic emotional moments.  Great performance from Favreau, who displays his talent for writing and directing, too.  Has anyone else had the chance to see this yet?

I want to see this but the only place near me that is showing it is in downtown Manhattan and to be honest I don’t wanna go there for a movie.

It looks like the type of movie I’m not interested in watching. Ever.

Lol! C’mon Tomhardys. I loved Elf. Cowboys and Aliens too.

It’s possible that Favreau has returned to his Indy roots. Maybe.

After watching the film, I’d say yes and no.  The overall focus of the film is niche (though foodies and food trucks in particular are becoming extremely popular), but it boasts a recognizable cast of popular celebrities and a very expensive aesthetic.  I know these aren’t true measures of a indie film, but this feels more like a well-executed and adequately-funded passion project.

Perhaps not, but it’s intriguing. I happen to like Favreau, so it’s encouraging to hear.

I saw this a couple of weeks ago and reviewed it. I enjoyed it very much and would recommend this to anyone.

    x2

Food porn, especially that of the meat variety, only induces nausea in me.

I think I’d written my reaction to this here already, but go at it again. What an utterly pointless movie. Sure is a passion project for Favreau and his efforts are palpable but there is little to no depth and soul which makes this watch a mehh at best. And I hated how the whole movie is infact a big Twitter/Vine/Facebook advert.

I was suprised with this movie. I enjoyed it and I don’t like alot of Favreau movies. I love the energy of the film and the father/son story and the soundtrack and the soical media stuff.
