The first teaser for ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ was released today, and it looks badass. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, this fifth installment of the franchise once again stars Tom Cruise with Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, and newcomers Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, and Alec Baldwin.

Teaser can be viewed here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNPZGc0WmfM

‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ will be released this summer on July 31st.

Last one was the best yet so I’m quite excited for this.

^I agree, ‘Ghost Protocol’ was the best. I like this teaser, and it certainly does it’s job in teasing, but the full trailer will be released tomorrow. Can’t wait to see what McQuarrie does with the franchise.

‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ (2015) Movie Review

As a massive fan of the Mission franchise and its star that may affect how you interpret my opinion, but just know Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is one hell of a spectacular addition to an excellent blockbuster franchise.

Tom Cruise Loves the ‘Mission: Impossible’ Series, Sixth Entry Looking to Film Next Summer

Tom Cruise clearly loves making Mission: Impossible movies, so much that he and his team are already at work on a sixth installment with plans to shoot next summer.

Anyone got a real tired vibe from the trailers and spots? I liked Ghost Protocol more than I expected, but somehow I’m not pumped to watch this. Maybe is the late summer release or maybe I’m starting to get tired of the franchise/of Tom Cruise always playing the same character or maybe is just the Rogue Nation promotion isn’t effective for me.

I actually got the opposite vibe personally. The sight of Cruise hanging off that plane just showcased (to me) that this is a franchise that is often trying to push itself to stay fresh. Also, Simon Pegg.

Watched this tonight with my brother and this was fun stuff, keeping the wonderful team element and dynamic in play that worked so well in ‘Ghost Protocol’ (which this one most closely resembles of the previous entries) as well as the humor. Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, and Simon Pegg are excellent, Alec Baldwin is perfectly cast, and the returning Ving Rhames and Jeremy Renner once again do great work and help flesh the team out in fun and interesting ways. The villain worked better for me here than ‘Ghost Protocol’s’, and the action is terrifically staged and filmed, the standouts being a fascinating underwater sequence (which does for water what the Burj Khalifa scene in the last one did for heights), and the best car/motorcycle chase scene of the summer (save for ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, but it’s up there). This is right up there with ‘Ghost Protocol’ as the best of the series (I might even like it more), and certainly one of the best and most exciting films of the summer.

Saw this last night and quite enjoyed it. One of the best films of the summer and second only to Ghost Protocol in the M:I franchise. This film seems strangely out of place nowadays. It’s more of a traditional summer film, you know, because it stars human beings in an at least semi-realistic world. Obviously it’s all still about having fun but the action isn’t so over the top and CGI laden that it’s unbelievable. Maybe I’m just getting tired of superhero movies, or I’m just feeling nostalgic, but I wish more summer movies were like this (and Mad Max, for that matter).

Also, I’ve been watching some Tom Cruise movies this past week that I never saw, and I suddenly realized that I actually really love him. I never think about him when I’m considering my favorite actors, and of course it’s hard to support the man off screen, but the truth is there has never been a Cruise performance that I didn’t at least like. You can always tell that he’s giving it his everything in every role. It’s sort of a shame he’s not much of a box office draw anymore, though I think that means we’ll see more of Ethan Hunt. Cruise says the next M:I film will shoot next summer. About time the wait between films is less than 4-5 years. Can’t wait.

The Mission Impossible series has become a must see event. This outing was simply thrilling. From the plane ride through the many twists and turns, the film is edge of my seat. I caught myself more than once with my mouth open. This is what summer entertainment is supposed to be – exciting, nonstop thrills in exotic locales.

Producer and star Tom Cruise works hard here. He is intense. And I like it!

I will be headed back to the theater soon to see it again. This is not a film which will provide maximum entertainment value on my big ole TV.

So I saw it and I liked it. It is what a good blockbuster is supposed to be.

The best: Rebecca Ferguson. Ilsa is the best female character in the whole franchise (which unsurprisingly is not hard). Her role was really great and step up for what MI has been doing so far. To me she steals the show easily. Kind of a Jane Bond (speaking of, there’s a Bond vibe going on in Rogue Nation, right?). Also the whole action in Morocco is awesome! I mean, the underwater scene is the signature sequence. Woah.

The worst: The plane sequence. Sigh. Didn’t work for me in the promotion, didn’t work for me in the movie. I get it, great, great, great stunt and all, but the value came from knowing what was going on behind the scenes, in the movie is a real meh. As opening sequence is not memorable, the pace and the suspense and all the elements needed were super bland. The thing about the stunts that worked so wonderful in Ghost Protocol (at least to me) is the weight they have to the plot and the tension of it. Here doesn’t matter if Tom Cruise risked his life more than ever or whatever, as in the film is no THAT exciting. The Burj Khalifa sequence kicked its ass.

Yeah Ferguson was the big surprise for me. I didn’t know much about the film going in and, as usual, I didn’t expect much from the lone female character. But Ilsa ended up being easily the most interesting of the bunch. I’ve never seen Ferguson in anything else but I thought she did a really good job here.
