I could see Sandra Bullock winning quite a few of these awards.

They’ve added the following categories this year — Favorite Movie Duo, Favorite Family Movie, Favorite Horror Movie, and Favorite Thriller Movie

They’ve dropped the following categories from last year — Favorite Movie Franchise, Favorite Movie Fan Following, Favorite Movie Superhero, Favorite On-Screen Chemistry, Favorite Movie Icon, and Favorite Face of Heroism

I’ll post my actual ballot and predictions in the near future.

This show always starts off great, it has the makings of being a great awards show, recognising huge block busters and also critically acclaimed works.

But than all those teens come sweeping in and vote for god knows what. Year after year those frantic teens go dig out the most unlikely films and actors to nominate.
No wonder not many people take the People’s Choice Awards seriously.

I think i’ll participate this year, and “try” and get the critically acclaimed films on that final nomination list (Mud, The Butler, Blue Jasmine etc).

It draws +10 million viewers each year, so ….

Well sure, thanks to those ‘teens’ who are so unfairly besmirched. When it comes to the enthusiasm, innocence and sincerity of a teen, vs the lecturing pedantry of a sixty-one+ year old, I’ll take the former. Well, generally speaking of course.

They should retitle these the “Most Popular Summer Movies” awards – that’s what nearly all of these are.

Don’t they look silly for not waiting until Catching Fire opens? It won’t be included next year because by then it will be old news and last year’s movie.

    *nods* ^^

Shades of Avatar in 2009.  The PCA’s have been known to add categories after the official nomination announcement, tho.

My best movie final 5 (so far, based on hope of great quality and present knowledge)

    12 Years a Slave
    Man of Steel
    This is The End
    Hunger Games: Catching Fire
    Fruitvale Station

And not including Gravity is just stupid. Seriously, Fast & Furious 6 is better/more popular?
My guess is Warners told them, include us out, no one will show up for your tv show.

I think we can “bank” on the voting body to tell us all what they love. It’s their awards, afterall. Refreshing, and just as telling as their Big Brother Oscar,

Well, Gravity is up for 4 PCA’s and could very well sweep on the strength of Bullock’s 3 noms.  She’s immensely popular with the PCA crowd. Their only competition in dramatic movie is, IMO, The Butler.  Forget Captain Phillips, as Hanks was shut out. And FF6 was the most well-received, ironically of the series from critics.  70% RT.

Sandra Bullock technically got 5 nominations- movie actress, dramatic movie actress, comedic movie actress, and 2 nods for movie duo. she’s obviously beloved by the PCAs

New category:  Best Year-End Movie, and can be voted online.

Nominees:  Anchorman 2, Frozen, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Thor: The Dark World.  They finally listened to those who were complaining about November and December big ticket movies were forgotten.
