I know its a little bit early, but this film seems baity as hell, and it will be fun to discuss

    Directed by: John Lee Hancock
    Written by: Robert D. Siegel

    Starring:
Michael Keaton, Laura Dern and Nick Offerman

I certainly think that Keaton, if good here, can get his second nomination (and maybe even win), but I am also interested in this for Laura Dern, who I certainly think is just one lead role away from winning an Oscar, and I can see her being great in this – and I think that her side of the story will involve the Macbeth/There Will Be Blood aspect we were promised

(Oh, one request please – this is about a future film that many of us are pretty stoked for. So please let’s keep this thread friendly and optimistic and not mention Eddie Redmayne. That race is done and done, and there is no need for more debate about that)

This is the McDonalds film right? Do we know anything about Laura Dern’s role?

Anyways I’m STOKED and anxious for this film to start shooting. Keaton and Dern will make a killer combo.

She’s apparently playing Ray Kroc’s (Keaton) wife, so I can see her being a Lady Macbeth-type

Here are the types of voters that will vote for MICHAEL KEATON for THE FOUNDER

    1.  Any voter who has ever eaten at McDonalds
    2. Any voter who has ever seen McDonalds
    3. A voter who feels guilty for not giving SUPERSIZE ME the Oscar for Best Documentary
    4. Voters who are hungry
    5. Voters who cannot cook
    6. Voters who liked Birdman
    7. Voters who never saw Birdman and think it was a biopic of Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC, and will consider this a great sequel
    8. Voters who realize that Meryl Streep once drove past a McDonalds and sniffed the air outside the McDonalds, thus blessing the entire franchise

    CONCLUSION
Michael Keaton WILL win Best Actor for The Founder

Please let it be good enough for a makeup Oscar for Keaton. And I really like Dern, love to see her in a great role as well.

I am pretty stoked for this one. One reason is the whole parallels to There Will Be Blood are intriguing. Another is that I love McDonald’s and I wonder if this could be the one where Keaton gets to pull out his acceptance speech he should’ve given for Birdman? If Christopher Plummer can manage a 2nd nomination at 82, I am pretty positive Keaton can manage a 2nd nod at this point in his career.

Her road to Oscar will be the path of least resistance: supporting actress.

I absolutely LOVE these theories and post MacBeth.  Even I would qualify from this list, as I have actually ‘smelled’ McDonnies……from afar……also, I’m a great cook but cant stand it. That should qualify for all.

What is known about Offerman’s role?

He’s playing Dick MacDonald, one of the brothers who Kroc steals the franchise concept from

Fantastic, that’s only a few days after my 21st birthday!

Movie God will bless me on my road to adulthood by giving Mr. Keaton a role so undeniable to Oscar voters and to audiences, he will finally take his little golden man home!

But seriously, enough of my bad impression. This is good news for this film. This film has a lot working in its favor – a great screenwriter, a director who gave a mainstream actress her Oscar, Weinstein, a baity story and a great release date. I really think that Keaton could be a player with this film, as could Laura Dern and Nick Offerman (who could have a very showy supporting role)

From the set pictures I’ve seen online, and the cast that has been assembled. This looks to be a great vehicle for Keaton and a wonderful film.
