May as well claim it now, because this could *surpass* the boxoffice total of the original, the trailer is that good:

The first was an ok start. Let’s hope they improve on it. Love the fact it’s a woman leading the way! So much for how ladies cant carry any box office clout/series etc.

Just seeing this for Jennifer. Even though I thought the first one was just fine.

The best parts of this first trailer are the scenes between Donald Sutherland and Philip Seymour Hoffman. I’m so excited for their scenes together, and they look like they nail it. Lawrence will no doubt be as great or better than she was in the first. I also love that they’re keeping most of the film under wraps with this first trailer showcasing mostly footage from the first act. I really liked the first one, though I did have some issues with it, but this one has the potential to be better.

I’ve been harbouring some high hopes for Sutherland, who, imo, is one of the best working actors to have never received an Oscar nod. I’d say the odds are against him in a sci-fi film, but he does have some money scenes coming up, especially in the third (or fourthj)act.  Some good notices for him, along with the impressive box office, would be great for him.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Sutherland and PSH interactions, and PSH in general.

I think this gives off a more mature vibe than the first film had, and I’m liking the visual style more. Probably reel in more adults this time around.

Really? I hope he gets his fat head blown off and quickly. When was the last time the guy died in a film? When he was conked over the head in The Talented Mr Ripley, back when he was actually very good?

I totally agree. I think PSH is a tremendous actor, and I think it’s awesome to see him do a blockbuster franchise like this one. I enjoyed him very much in ‘M:I III’ as the villain, and it’ll be great seeing him mix it up as another villainous character in this ensemble. And Jennifer Lawrence is really something else… I’m not a fanboy for her at all, but I think she’s great. I love her interviews and live appearances, and then she has the talent to back it up; she is quite literally the polar opposite of Kristen Stewart.

Aren’t you cute. Didn’t he die in MI? I don’t remember. I think he plays a good guy here, so he probably will die. Idk. But rest assured, his character’s fate will be in my prayers.

I vote for his death. He can phone it in from Hunger Games heaven just as well.

Either way, (hopefully) it’ll be entertaining to watch.

Wait, not the phoning in part.

Preach. That’s what actually got me into the series. Finally a female-driven blockbuster with an interesting protagonist who is a) not overly sexualized b) doesn’t depend on her male counterparts. There is a whole romance angle of course to appeal more to the teenage audience but it’s still only a subplot. And while it’s not my favorite performance by Lawrence, I do feel like she and Ross got the essence of the character and that’s quite an achievement.

The sequel seems promising and much more sophisticated – probably thanks to a bigger budget and the new director. I’m actually quite looking forward to it.

That’s a good perspective for explaining the appeal of the films (and by extension Lawrence).

This isn’t really about “Catching Fire,” but it’s something major for Jennifer Lawrence, so here it is:
