Doesn’t debut until next March 23, but the internets are buzzing with the epic trailer Lionsgate unleashed this morning.  Enjoy:

The book series was so dumb [especially the third one. JFC what the hell was that?]. Interesting premise that was ruined because the author can’t write for shit.

This don’t look that good either. The hype will not pay off, sorry to say.

‘Hunger Games’ First Trailer: Watch Jennifer Lawrence Train to Kill (Video)

    Published: November 14, 2011 @ 10:05 am

    By Brent Lang

    Let the games begin.

Fans of Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games” got a sneak peek at the upcoming big-screen version of the teen novel on Monday’s “Good Morning America.”

From the look of things, everything except Josh Hutcherson’s dyed-blonde hair looks pretty dark, signaling that Lionsgate and director Gary Ross are remaining true to the book’s gritty core.

There’s also lots of shots of Jennifer Lawrence, running, jumping, bow-and-arrow wielding and generally being bad-ass as Katniss Everdeen.

The film hits theaters on March 23, 2012.

A new trailer is out, from what I can gather, but I’m not able to transfer it here as of yet.

You never know. “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” is a terrible book, but it has already been turned into one compelling, well made movie, and it is likely to yield two.

The trailer looks good. I think the films could be part of that rare group that’s better than the books they’re based off of.

I havent read the books, but they’re such different mediums. The Godfather and TLoTR’sx3 come to mind as examples…not that Tolkien was anywhere near a bad writer.
Finger’s and toes crossed for this film.

I think they nailed it.  And for once, the movie’s ending isn’t given away as some trailers are wont to do.  Hunger Games triliogy is YA novel-reading INO (in name only).  Anyone of any age can pick up the books and be drawn into its world.  I’ve a lot less reservations about Lawrence as Katniss now than I had when she was originally cast.

And the countdown to the opening of the Games was heart-pounding stuff.  Lionsgate may finally have turned the corner and have a mega-hit franchise on its hands.

I tried reading the first book, got about five pages in, then realized that the book must have been written by a 10 year old. Seriously, how can people stand this kind of stuff?

The trailer looked like it was aimed at pre-teens, which is probably was.

I’d love to hear what you think of the film, as with Kung Fu Panda, and The Princess and the Frog.

I’m wagering this is a little more intense.

    LOL. Gotta love you, babypook!

Seriously though, the book is aimed at kids, and I find it hard to believe that adults like it, but to each their own (I guess).

    Lol!
Well, imo opinion, “See Dick Run” is about the only book I can think of that is aimed at children that I wouldnt consider reading (again), I mean, I do enjoy “Sesame Street”.
Looks as if C.S. Lewis may have been right about aging and not being able to access those closets anymore.

    Haha

The trailer looks okay. This seems poised to be the next Twilight. Unlike Twilight however, I have read these books (well the first two) and while basically a Battle Royale rip-off, they’re mildly amusing. Plus, this one has Jennifer Lawrence. Josh Hutcherson doesn’t seem charismatic enough to be his character though.

I just purchased the first book. If this film is a hit, which I suspect it may be, the books will be sold everywhere, which imo is a very good thing.
I want to give it to a young person I have in mind, introduce them to popular science-fiction (the kid has already read “The Left Hand of Darkness”), the reality of Dystopias, Oligarchys, and blind faith in your governments.

I’ll read it first myself, then go to see this film. Actually looking forward to it.
