The Oscar acting clips are a part of the show, every year, that I look forward to most. Which clips of each acting category do you think they will use?
Here are some of mine (as I have not seen every performance nominated)
M. M. (have yet to see)
Leo DiCap- getting back into his car (wouldn’t that be perfect)
Bruce Dern- visiting his old room (saw a clip, have yet to see filmi)
C. E.- (haven’t see in a while but) when he plays his violin for Paul Giamatti for the first time.
Christian Bale- art gallery scene with Richie
Cate Blanchett- I SAW YOU (freaking love that scene)
Amy Adams- at her apartment with Bale
Judi- (have yet to see)
Meryl- can’t decided
Sandra- “… going to die today.”
Cooper- (I wish the part of him doing Louis CK impressions but) Quarterback scene with his mother
Abdi- when he speaks of living in America
Hill- cousin scene
Leto- (have yet to see)
Fassbender- first counting cotton scene
Lupita- its a great scene, but hopefully not her overused ‘soap’ clip. so i’d choose her last scene when Soloman is taken away.
Lawrence- bathroom scene + kiss
Squibb- have yet to see but hopefully something other than the graveyard clip
Hawkins- fighting her boyfriend in the grocery store
Julia- walking with chairs with her husband
What do ya’ll think?February 25, 2014 at 9:05 am #143051
These aren’t their best scenes per se, but now that I’m thinking as I’m writing this, these are the stand-outs and memorable ones for me –
M. M. – When he finds out he has AIDS scene or the grocery shopping scene
DiCaprio – not seen yet
Dern – this one’s a tough one, maybe him driving the pickup slowly around the town scene
Ejiofor.- He beats up Paul Dano scene or “I want to LIVE” scene
Bale – I don’t remember much, but maybe his standoff/fight scene with Jen Lawrence
Blanchett – The ending scene where she’s talking to herself
Adams – When she’s inside the prison cell
Dench – When she finds out the sad news about her son in the hotel or the ‘I didn’t abandon him’ scene
Streep – Oh god not the “everybody needs makeup/Elizabeth Taylor” scene; she should go for the Table scene where she suddenly lashes out at Abigail Breslin or the outdoor scene where she tells her childhood story to her three daughters (my personal best scene of her in the movie.)
Sandra- Yep, the “I’m going to die today” scene
Cooper – I honestly can’t remember any partcular scene
Abdi – when he speaks of living in America/ any of the moments with Hanks inside the small container boat thing
Hill – not seen
Leto – definitely his meeting with his father/ or the one when he breaks down and cries infront of the boyfriend who takes him to hospital.
Fassbender – Him telling Northup to whip Patsy
N’yongo – Her big “soap” scene, I don’t care however overused it is, it is still so powerful.
Lawrence – The one they played for SAG, or the microwave scene
Squibb – the graveyard clip, but not the ‘she was a slut’ one, but the following ‘see what you could’ve had” scene.
Hawkins – maybe her ending scene where she confronts Blanchett
Roberts – again, the ‘eat the fish bitch’ is too good. They could also use her ending ‘freedom’ sceneFebruary 25, 2014 at 10:02 am #143052
I’d love it if they showed the “who do I have to sleep around here to get a stoli martini with a twist of lemon?” for cate, which in contest is so fucking hilarious and depressing since she’s boiling up as everyone discusses her life and what career would be best for her, but they’ll probably use the “I saw you Erica”February 25, 2014 at 10:05 am #143053
Bullock’s “I’m dying today” scene was cringeworthy. I really like that performance but it felt SO cheesy. I guess I just don’t buy talking-to-one-self.February 25, 2014 at 10:13 am #143054
For the SAGs, they used the scene where Jasmine is giving advice to her nephews… I hope to god the Academy uses the most hilarious scene of all – “I saw you Erika” – fucking love that line reading.
For Abdi, sorry, but nothin’ beats “I am the captain now…” – the most famous line of this season, and they’re sure gonna make sure they use it for Abdi’s clip.February 25, 2014 at 10:16 am #143055
No, they used the “I saw you Erica” scene at the SAG Awards.February 25, 2014 at 10:26 am #143056
