I’m trying to put together a menu of food from this year’s Best Picture nominees. I’m looking for food actually featured in the films (as opposed to pun-themed food, such as “Hidden Fig Bars”, “Manchester by the Seasonings”, or “Hell or High Watercress”).
Here are the ideas I have so far. Any other suggestions?
“Fences”–biscuits, fried chicken
“Hell or High Water”–T-bone steak and baked potatoes (the only thing that diner waitress wanted to serve)
“Hidden Figures”–Fruit salad (Taraji P. Henson asked Mahershala Ali to put some on her children’s plates at the church social)
“La La Land”–Coffee (she worked in a coffee shop), Chicken on a Stick (what Ryan Gosling wanted to call his jazz club)
“Lion”–Jalebi (the deep-fried treat which sparked Dev Patel’s memory of his childhood in India)
“Manchester by the Sea”–Yogurt (at the awkward breakfast), spaghetti (isn’t that what the mom served to Casey Affleck and the teens?)
“Moonlight”–Arroz con pollo (from the diner scene near the end)
Manchester By the Sea
Fire roasted baby back ribs
My friend made this last week based on the recipe on the site and said it was awesome.
The alian “Arrival” one looks fun! I can’t remember them eating or drinking, except maybe having some water or coffee in the compound.
