Any early predictions or hopes for 2017 films to make it to the 2018 Oscars?

The Beguiled by Sofia Coppola and Woodshock by the Mulleavy sisters. Big year for Kirsten Dunst coming up.

Let’s hope for woman to finally get more than one nominations in the writing directing categories.

Definitely keeping an eye on Nolan’s “Dunkirk” Also Branagh’s ‘Orient Express’ has a very awards-friendly date–as does “Darkest Hour” which Oldman might get recognized for.

Dunkirk and Blade Runner 2049 should be sweeping the technical categories easily.

I can see Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix nominated again for Mary Magdalene, which is why she is not being campaigned this year I guess.

Emma Stone should easily be back in contention for Battle of the Sexes too.

If Weightless doesn’t suck I can see that movie getting a lot of nominations.

Mainstream potential contenders are Coco, Dunkirk, Downsizing, Bladerunner 2049, Alien: Covenant, and Beauty in the beast. I am not saying these will be Oscar movies, I am just saying these are the  well known movies that seem most likely to be the mad max of 2017.

Downsizing has a December release currently. How’s it going to be the mad max?

I am really hoping that the new Darren Aronofsky film, which might be titled Mother, will do good. Maybe another Best Actress nom/win for Jennifer Lawrence, and the rest of the cast have a good chance too with Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris and Domhnall Gleeson.

wasn’t talking about release dates, I was talking about an artistic semi popular mainstream film from an older respected film maker with an amazing cast. Basically the Avatar or Star Wars of ET of that year.

Alex Garland’s Annihilation and Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name and Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes and Lee Unkrich’s Coco.

Not predictions, just hopes. Please be great.
