As i mentioned in my first post in this thread I plan this one to be the last. Unless it generates at least 5 pages, it seems the interest in less. Part 3 is just 3 pages, compared to the 6 and 5 pages of the first parts.

Let me know if you want me to continue making those…

And you should keep going until at least the 70s, there are still a lot of winners that people recognize OR at least one more and then do an ULTIMATE ultimate oscar race, where the winners fom each compete against each other. THAT would be great

    BEST PICTURE

    Schindler’s List (1993)

(An easy choice since it is the only film I consider great in this line-up. I do not even like “Titanic” or “Braveheart” and though “Forrest Gump” is moving I have a lot of problems with its politics.)

    LEAD ACTOR

    Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) (1994)

(I am not a big fan of any of them and consider Jack Nicholson flat-out bad in his film but Tom Hanks makes it hard for me to hate a film even though I have a lot of problems with its view of the world. The man is a magician!)

    LEAD ACTRESS

    Frances McDormand (Fargo) (1996)

(Tough choice between McDormand and Hunter but I just saw “Fargo” again like two weeks ago and I really cannot picture anyone doing that performance any better. It is a unique mixture of slightly mocking satire and genuine emotion and ends up a thing of beauty. Hilarious one moment and completely moving the next. It is a little miracle of a performance.)

    SUPPORTING ACTOR

    Martin Landau (Ed Wood) (1994)

     (A very easy choice.)

    SUPPORTING ACTRESS

    Anna Paquin (The Piano) (1993)

(A completely unique performance. Maybe only an untrained actress can come across so naturally playing a child so diabolically rotten she seems like a demonic imp more than a human.)

I would say keep going! If you give them enough time they will get to five or six pages.

    BEST PICTURE

Schindler’s List (1993) – easy, one of the greatest films of all time

    LEAD ACTOR

Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) (1994) – classic performance of a classic character

    LEAD ACTRESS

Frances McDormand (Fargo) (1996) – see reason for Hanks

    SUPPORTING ACTOR

Martin Landau (Ed Wood) (1994) – almost went with Spacey, but decided against it because it’s category fraud, almost went with Williams, but decided against it because of the accent, decided on Landau’s heartbreaking performance

    SUPPORTING ACTRESS

Kim Basinger (LA Confidential) (1997) – I don’t even like this pick but the only other winner here I’ve seen is The English Patient and I’d much rather give this to the much better film

    BEST DIRECTOR

    Steven Spielberg (Schindler’s List) (1993)

    ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY

Pulp Fiction (1994) – wow, what a great batch, but of course this is one of the best ever

    ADAPTED SCREENPLAY

    ORIGINAL SCORE

Hans Zimmer (The Lion King) (1994) – beautiful
