Well, here we are, 40 hours to know who will be nominated for an Oscar. I guess the Academy will go for a public announcement in their Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/Oscars) but ABC also shows them with frequency.
So, it’s been a pleasure to share with all of you the delusion, the uncountable amount of threads dedicated to specific questions and category frauds (I hope you forgive my police behavior but the number of pages will speak for themselves), the fandom, the suspense, the ups and downs…
I just posted my final predictions. Some have been really weird to predict, I put 500 on Cinematography and 200 on Costumes and Animated. The rest is up to surprises and I feel we’re going to get a lot of them. But it’s logical. With so many awards everywhere, it’s impossible to match (Not to mention the subjective point of view of the voters) the previous nominees at other awards. And I know it’s pretty impossible to be fair, because no one knows how to do it, but at least be fun. Everyone knows the BEST will never win (Because… Who is the best? What is the best?) but, in terms of entertainment, we agree on so many things.
Waiting for your reactions, GoldDerby Members!!! This Friday starts the new Oscar prediction season for 2017!!! You ready???January 12, 2016 at 4:23 pm #208359
And all comes down to this. I hope im going to do better than last year’s 70%.
What was your last year’s score?January 12, 2016 at 4:27 pm #208360
I hope for:
– Good Revenant’s, Mad Max, Star Wars, Carol, showing
– Screenplay, animation and score, maybe even BP noms for Inside Out
– Dicaprio but he is safe i guess :p
Its just me or nominations morning is WAY more exciting than actual awards show?January 12, 2016 at 4:32 pm #208361
Stallone has to be nominated for sure after the reaction he got at the globesJanuary 12, 2016 at 4:36 pm #208362
Yeah nominations for the Oscars is way more exciting than the actual show for me because actual surprises can happen! By the actual show everything is pretty much set in stone with a couple categories being between two contenders.January 12, 2016 at 4:41 pm #208363
Yup. Last year i predicted 21 of 24 categories right. Oscar awards show is always so predictableJanuary 12, 2016 at 5:03 pm #208364
Not good at math. If I have 100/1 odds for all my predicted cinematography noms, is it worth switching out Beasts of No Nation for Mad Max if my other four are The Revenant, Carol, Sicario, and Hateful Eight?January 12, 2016 at 5:37 pm #208366
I’m a newb… but I’m so excited to have found fellow Oscarlogists =).
There are so many categories where everyone is saying one thing, and all the precursors are pointing in that direction… but I can’t bring myself to believe it’s actually going to happen. I hope the Academy doesn’t disappoint =,(
And yes DamianPietrzak! I am hoping with all my heart Carol makes a showing! Especially BP, Blanchett, Mara, score, and screenplay.January 12, 2016 at 8:22 pm #208368
I hope it’s a great day for Creed fans.January 12, 2016 at 8:23 pm #208369
Feinberg is predicting Fast 7 for Best Visual Effects. It’s not eligible for Oscar since it failed to make the short list. This year really must be crazy if mistakes like that are happening from pundits.January 12, 2016 at 8:44 pm #208370
Feinberg is not a serious pundit. His click-baiting attitude as a writer for THR is embarrassingJanuary 12, 2016 at 9:11 pm #208371
