After expressing my true feelings at the appropriate forum (at least some of them – I’m not quite done with this) I am deeply sad to inform that these awards that took me so much time and energy to create and develop have been cancelled. There is no point to have two separate awards regarding the same people… They would cancel each other out and things would become repetitive. This is not the Globes and the Oscars.

The real purpose of my idea was to bring everybody together. Something small and private to celebrate the best of GoldDerby: ourselves. I know I’m not the kindest or the nicest user around but I care about you all. You have become – in your own twisted way – a family to me. I bitch with most of y’all and get on your nerves all the time (and vice-versa). But what truly matters to me at the end of the day is that this  is more than an online forum to me. It’s a refuge, my safe space where I forget about the world for a minute and just type. Type and read, read and type. And I’m sure GoldDerby means just the same to a lot of you.

Thank you all for participating. Your enthusiasm is what made me excited to carry on this thing in the first place. Thank you for the kind words I’ve been receiving regarding this matter (specially you Babypook). A special thank you to Macbeth and Tye-Grr for being my online bros and an even more special thank you to 24Emmy for helping me build this in the first place.

Don’t forget to vote for the Derbyite Awards in the Prediction Center 🙂

Thank you for the idea and the effort that you put into the Awards. Kinda sad that we won’t get to see the results but I’m guessing the new Derbyite Awards should be fun too. You said it best when you said that the goldderby has become a unique family……it’s the same way with me too.

It was nice to be a nominee. Made me feel as though I have an impact here.

I LOVE this paragraph because it is exactly how I feel regarding these forums.

I know we haven’t had much interaction, but thanks for your hard work in putting the awards together; obviously many thought it was a great idea, which it definitely was.  I know, though, it sucks to put so much work and time into something and then feel like it was all for nothing..

Keep your chin up and keep posting!  I enjoy reading your thoughts and opinions!

This is actually quite upsetting. I’m not going to say much about this issue, because I’ve repeated it ad nauseum, and I’m bored of repeating myself. I just think you, TomHardys, created such a brilliant idea that brought so much life to this forum. I think your nominations post got about 15 – 20 upvotes? I’ve never seen than before on GoldDerby, and it proved how your actions brought us together. The concept was brilliant, and on the bright side, your idea was so brilliant, Tom O’Neil found it worthy to use and make mainstream, and the concept was even posted on IMDb, so at least your idea was absolutely excellent.

I am not going to continue bitching about how all your hard work (and I am pretty sure it was excrutiatingly hard work) was for nothing, but it was. Making the awards mainstream and in the predictions centre is a brilliant idea, I just wish you were involved in the creative process and Tom took your recommendations and your hard work into consideration instead of suggesting you do a completely different awards, inferior to the spinoff of your own idea. I am not sure why it couldn’t be a collaborative process – TomHardys has been around for a long, long time and is one of the most trusted posters here at GD, so its not like he is a sketchy character – working with him on the awards would not have been a terrible idea at all – let’s be honest, if there was a list of users who could potentially become moderators and editors in the future, TomHardys would be near the top of that list.

So yeah, it is what it is. I am not going to try and change anyone’s minds now and get the awards back into your hands TomHardys, so all I can offer is my moral support, I agree that continuing with these awards would have just been an exercise in redundancy, overshadowed by the new awards, so I don’t blame you in the slightest for cancelling them. BUT I do think we should give you the kudos and credit you deserve for the concept of the awards, which is incredibly important.

But yeah, let’s remain positive and hope for the best with the awards, in whatever form they come. It is, afterall, a celebration of GoldDerby’s brightest

Thanks for all the hard work TomHardys. Your idea was very much needed and sparked lots of interest throughout the goldderby community.

So does this mean I’m no longer a three time nominee?

That’s a bummer to hear. You were so close you should have finished them off anyway. Oh well, nice job bringing these GD awards back from the dead.

Thank you for posting this Macbeth! I could not possibly agree more. I have already given TomHardys my thoughts on this situation privately, but you have basically worded my own thoughts in a very classy and thoughtful way, so I would just like to second this entire post. Thanks TomHardys for all of the hard work and just know that it wasn’t all for naught because whatever ends up happening, it was YOUR idea that inspired all of this and brought our community closer.

Ugh, DAMMIT, I JUST dropped off my Melissa Leo-style FYC photos to the post office to have them sent out to all of you.  All that money wasted.  I bought a fur for the occasion, too…

But in all seriousness, TH, thank you for the effort you put into them.

Thanks for everything guys!  Anything I feel/think has already been typed, but you all know where I stand on the matter.  Love you guys (more than I hate a select few of you, hah).  You hit the nail on the head about this being a disfunctional family, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!!!

In the entire time I have lurked and been a member of these boards, there was only one time  where Pacinofan won Poster of the Year, although it wasnt called that. One time. And, it was absolutely nothing like the way TomHardys did it. Nada.

Not to put a snag into this entire, “we’ve done this before” stuff. If these happened before 2000, and I know it didnt, my apologies.

So, how am I suppose to feel when I had the most nominations among, so many terrific and knowledgeable posters? Can anyone tell me? Lol.

    Ya.
