Wonder Woman is way To high. If a superhero movie gets in, it’s Logan.

Yeah, the Wonder Woman mentions are perplexing, even with the campaign Warner Bros. has promised.

Wonder Woman is way To high. If a superhero movie gets in, it’s Logan.

    Out of interest why?

-Wonder Woman has similar critical reception (76/77 on MC and 92/93 on RT)
    -Far bigger box office
-Much bigger interest in general due to female director, DC actually being able to make a good film and the feminist associations in general

So is it just that Logan is darker material that you see it as ahead?

Full disclaimer: I don’t think either has a chance in hell at Best Picture and the only major nomination for either I could see in the longest of long shots is Stewart but just genuinely curious why everyone’s decided that Logan is more Best Picture fare than Wonder Woman when the latter has clearly had a bigger cultural impact.

If you stripped Logan of its superhero elements, ITB be Oscar bait. It’s grounded enough for Oscars to go for it (even though I agree with you that both won’t happen). Even though they have similar critic scores most people that I have seen agree Logan is better. Wonder Woman is a standard superhero movie with a female lead. Logan is not a standard superhero movie. It’s fool of heart and emotion that is something the Oscars are more likely to go for. It also has narratives for Jackman and Stewart (which are both long long shots) that Wonder Woman doesn’t have. Maybe in another year Wonder Woman having a female director would be an advantage, but there are so many more viable options for a female directing nomination before Jenkins: Dee Rees, Lynne Ramsey, Valerie Ferrie, Sophia Coppola, Kathryn Bigelow, and that’s just at the top of my head.

Like you said, I don’t see either happening, but I would predict Logan way before Wonder Woman.

She only makes predictions for movies she has seen so they are full of filler for now.

In that case WW is still way too high, and Chalamet is too low.

Logan has no shot to win any oscars we all  know Dunkirk will be the juggernaut when it comes to the oscars I expect 11 or 12 nominations for Dunkirk  I’m telling you  we are looking at another braveheart  in terms of being released  before November and still dominating the oscars

LOL at all the so-called “Experts” predicting Dunkirk to win Best Picture, when it obviously doesn’t have the passion for it to win on a preferential ballot like other recent winners (Spotlight, Moonlight, 12 Years a Slave) of that category. I’m not predicting it to even get nominated. Only one Nolan film has ever been a BP nominee, Inception. Even then Nolan couldn’t make the cut for Directing, and the entire cast got snubbed. Oscar voters are clearly not going to give Dunkirk anything outside of a couple technical nominations and a token win for Sound Editing, with it being the big loud war movie of the year.

Riiight… just like how last year Sony had such a huge Oscar campaign planned for “Sausage Party,” another popcorn film that was completely outside of the Academy’s taste. I forget, how did that turn out exactly?
