Dench did fail once with Shipping News, which she got a SAG and BAFTA nod.

And Meryl failed with the Hours (BAFTA/GG nod) and River Wild (SAG/GG nod) and Manchurian Candidate (BAFTA/GG nod)

Dench has never missed when she’s had BAFTA and Globe. If the film and her performance is as we expect I can’t see her missing either of those so don’t see her missing Oscar either. People are just underestimating her because they want to predict their favourites. Only Streep is ahead of her for the nomination at this point in my opinion.

I think if she is good Dench will win , she only has one Oscar and she is a Legend and her Oscar if for a shitty movie… i think she could get another one for sure

    Wrong

GIRL please Shakespeare in love is a horrible movie … Judi Dench is the best part of it and she is only in 9 minutes.

Still won best picture. It’s one of the greatest screenplays of all time. The only thing it shouldn’t have won was Paltrow who was great but not Oscar worthy.

Shakespeare in Love was whatever. And for a while, Gwyneth was the worst winner of the category (hello Reese! Nice to meet you Sandra! Oh hi to you Jennifer! And welcome to the club, Emma!) so it’s reputation for winning all of those Oscars, to the public, is tarnished.

It’s a good thing I’m not the public and don’t give a fuck what they think.

I know that you don’t like to hear this, but Jennifer Lawrence’s win is quite accepted and hardly as unpopular as the other names on your list. People wanted Emmanuelle Riva, but loved Jennifer Lawrence as well. It was a great performance, and I personally think the right person won that year.

Where? Her win is very polarizing. I’m not talking about people on awards forums which is basically another version of stan Twitter. It isn’t outright hated, but it is not widely accepted. Usually, the ones I see and talk to believe Jessica Chastain should’ve been the winner.

@bee Very few people think that Bland and Plain Chastain should have won for Zero Crap Thirty. She was easily one of the worst Globe winners of her category in the past 20-30 years. Believe me, the Lawrence win only seems polarizing because of all the anti-JLaw stans on these awards forums. I’ve heard plenty of people argue that Riva should have won, which I respectfully disagree with. But Lame Chastain, LMFAO!

Her win is not super popular, but it’s not hated either. In the eyes of an average Oscar lover, her win is simply an average one. I think Riva and Chastain had their fans as well and overall those three were the most raved in that category. Lawrence had a great year with SLP and The Hunger Games and I find her win very deserving.

I loved Chastain, but to be quite honest, for me Riva looked old and in pain. Very convincing, but I need a bit more than that. Her partner on screen schooled her big time and he should have gotten an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
