I have nine of yours down, all except Inside Out, but I’m pretty stumped on what to do with that tenth slot. I just took out Bridge of Spies this morning after missing the Eddie nomination, on the one hand one would typically look to SAG and perhaps Beasts of No Nation or Trumbo (especially featuring talent known on television, an asset for guilds where membership come from both mediums). On the other hand I can see something like Sicario proving general strength among the guilds on the way to a couple of tech nods at the Oscars.

It would be a great boost for Inside Out, and the underperforming Brooklyn as well. I have to confess I’m a little concerned about Carol with the guild awards, as well.

My predictions for the PGA ten. The ones I’m confident about:

    The Big Short
    Carol
    Mad Max: Fury Road
    The Martian
    The Revenant
    Room
    Spotlight

All of which I see getting Oscar nominations (I have them ranked 1-7, not in that order of course). I also think a prestige pic from Spielberg should go down well here, so:

    Bridge of Spies

Then I think, PGA being PGA will go for:

    Star Wars: The Force Awakens

And the (sort of) wild card pick from me is:

    Straight Outta Compton

If ‘Sicario’ can land a nomination here then I think that’s a sign that it’s got more momentum than we’ve been thinking. I’ve been looking through the possible wild card acting nominations (i.e. an acting nominee who didn’t get a nod from Globes, SAG or Critics Choice) and I’m starting to like the look of Benicio Del Toro a lot. A meaty role, a former winner, etc. Also liking the look of Kristen Stewart (but that’s another story, for another day).

Another I’d look to show strength here going into the heart of the season is ‘Creed’.

I’ve been really disappointed by how Creed has been doing so poorly in most awards (thrilled about Jordan’s win of the NSOFC yesterday) I would have thought Creed would be a lock for BP by now; is it racism? It’s about a contemporary black male, unlike 12 Years a Slave and other films that are set in the past. They didn’t like Fruitvale Station either. They seem to prefer their black films set in the distant past.

Previously, 7 animated films have been nominated for the PGA’s Best Motion Picture (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Shrek, The Incredibles, Up, and Toy Story 3). I see no reason why Inside Out can’t join that bunch.

Yes! Think about all the animated movie and tv producers there are out there! Also all the directors that have also worked in animation.
