I’m looking to YOU for help on some of these tight races, my fellow Derbyites! Here are the categories I need help with (for now) and the nominees I have narrowed it down to:

    Best Thriller Film-

    Hell or High Water

    Split

    10 Cloverfield Lane

Best Writing (This one is REALLY hard because I voted for both of them in Original and Adapted at the GoldDerby Film Awards)-

    Hell or High Water

    Deadpool

    Best Score-

    Doctor Strange (Michael Giacchino)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Michael Giacchino)

    La La Land (Justin Hurwitz)

    Best Editing-

    10 Cloverfield Lane (Stefan Grube)

Captain America: Civil War (Jeffrey Ford and Matthew Schmidt)

THANK YOU! I was honestly leaning towards all of those, except for Score. Tell me, how is Giacchino’s Rogue One work more impressive than his Doctor Strange work? I can’t help but be curious.

You didn’t like La La Land’s Score?

Based on these categories, I’d pick:

Best Thriller Film: Hell Or High Water

Best Writing: Hell Or High Water

    Best Score: La La Land

    Best Editing: 10 Cloverfield Lane

I already voted for Civil War for Best Editing and La La Land for Best Score.

HOWEVER, I’m still TORN on Best Thriller, Screenplay, and between Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Chris Evans (Captain America: Civil War) for Best Actor! 😐

I would vote cloverfield for thriller. HoHW is the better movie, but cloverfield is the better thriller. HoHW for screenplay easily. Dead pool was great too but not HoHW great. And Reynolds easily over Evans. What Reynolds did was hard as hell.

How was what Reynolds did “as hard as hell?” He didn’t even show his face most of the movie? Evans gave more of a dramatic performance, I just would love some clarification as to how easily Evans is not as great as Reynolds. :\

I have been having the EXACT same feelings about HoHW vs 10 Cloverfield in Thriller! One is the better movie, but the other is clearly the better THRILLER! I also had the same gut feeling in Screenplay, but wasn’t entirely sure. 😉

I don’t want to be rude but why are you voting based on our opinion and not YOUR opinion when it’s YOUR ballot. Isn’t that very similar as voting for something you didn’t watch that people have been calling out Oscar Voters for doing.

Most actors couldnt pull off what Reynolds pulled off. It was hard because people take advntage of comedy. Je was able to deleiver these crazy lines and even though the movie wasn’t serious, he treated it seriously. Which is why it was so funny. It actually reminds me a lot of McCarthy n Spy. Evans was good but a lot of actors could pull that off.

Alright, you’ve convinced me. Reynolds it is then. 🙂
