He co-stars in Darkest Hour, directed by Joe Wright and due to be released in November. Gary Oldman stars as Winston Churchill; Hurt will portray Neville Chamberlain. On Wikipedia Hurt is third-billed after Ben Mendelsohn as George VI, so it’s possible the latter might have the more substantial role, but we’ll see. Posthumous Oscar talk seems more legit for Hurt than it ever did for Alan Rickman, as Eye in the Sky was never an Oscar movie.

I knew I wasn’t the only one who thought that when looking at The Darkest Hour. An obvious nomination for Gary Oldman is also possible I think.
