    Plenty of veterans in the races this year in the acting categories, but what actors/actresses are you expecting to get their first-ever nominee?

    Best Actor:
    * Bryan Cranston- Trumbo
    * Tom Hardy- Legend
    * Tom Hiddleston- I Saw the Light
    * John Cusack- Love & Mercy
    * Joseph Gordon-Levitt- Snowden
    * Abraham Attah- Beasts of No Nation

    Best Actress:
    * Alicia Vikander- The Danish Girl
    * Brie Larson- Room
    * Emily Blunt- Sicario
    * Charlotte Rampling- 45 Years
    * Sarah Silverman- I Smile Back

    Best Supporting Actor:
    * Idris Elba- Beasts of No Nation
    * Jason Segel- The End of the Tour
    * Jacob Tremblay- Room
    * Tom Hardy- The Revenant
    * Joel Edgerton- Black Mass
    * Paul Dano- Love & Mercy
    * Kurt Russell- The Hateful Eight
    * Seth Rogen- Steve Jobs
    * Jeff Daniels- Steve Jobs

    Best Supporting Actress:
    * Jennifer Jason Leigh- The Hateful Eight
    * Kristen Stewart- The Clouds of Sils Maria
    * Elizabeth Olsen- I Saw the Light
    * Elle Fanning- About Ray
    * Rachel McAdams- Spotlight
    * Elizabeth Banks- Love & Mercy

    Anyone else worth mentioning that could receive a nomination?

    Amy Schumer in Best Actress for Trainwreck. It can happen. Ask Diane Keaton, Renee Zellweger, Julia Roberts, Cher, and Melanie Griffith. They’ll tell you that nods for funny gals are possible.

    To me, the safest bets are Bryan Cranston, Alicia Vikander, Idris Elba, and Tom Hardy (for The Revenant, NOT Legend).

    I really don’t think Bryan Cranston is a safe contender at all. The subject matter might play to the Academy’s voters, but the movie trailer gives off vibes that it could be a little slight in execution. Guess we’ll find out when it premieres.
