Editing, now Writing. A possible Renyolds win Sunday. Let’s face it, none of the talked about BP contenders were seen by flies. Deadpool is emerging as the lone candidate that will bring viewers to the Oscar telecast. Forget Rogue One; its pedigree auto-DQ’s it in AMPAS’ eyes.

    This is BS.

DEADPOOL won’t get a single important Oscar nomination. VOTERS DON’T CARE ABOUT VIEWERS. You must have understood that by now.

The best it can do is a make up and hairstyling nomination

The WGA breakthrough is a huge deal, because only 2 other genre movies got this far; Superman: The Movie and The Dark Knight.

Trainwreck got a WGA nomination last year. Also two Golden Globe nominations. It didn’t win any. And neither will Deadpool nor will Oscar voters take it seriously to even watch it.

While I can’t imagine a world in which “Deadpool” gets a Best Picture slot, and I do not think the WGA nomination will translate into an Adapted Screenplay nod (disparity between Oscar and Guild rulings shift heavier contenders to the already stacked Adapted category), it would not surprise me to see nominations in Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Editing. To have an R-rated superhero flick (and one of the highest-grossing R-rated films period) a contender in even those categories is something worth celebrating.

The annoying Paul once again fails to read between the lines and keeps pushing his ridiculous “if I didn’t see it, it’s not worth anything” argument.

Deadpool, good as it is, got in at WGA because of the disqualified screenplays, like Lion, and the fact that Moonlight and Loving were considered Original there. All three will most likely show up at the Oscars in the Adapted category and Deadpool will easily be left out. So don’t read too much into WGA nominations.

Not true. Guardians of the Galaxy was also WGA nominated and see how that turned out.

Ryan Reynolds is about to follow in the footsteps of Jim Carrey and Richard Gere as a Musical/Comedy Globe winner who fails to garner an Oscar nod, while a Globe loser (in this case Ryan Gosling, in those past cases Sean Penn and Nicolas Cage) does win the Academy’s favor.

Deadpool is getting a makeup nod maybe one of the sounds but that’s it. Though I am thinking Reynolds could hit actor over Viggo or Gosling. But I’m not taking it that seriously yet.

Gere and Carrey also had SAG nods.

I don’t hate the film, but I don’t consider it an Oscar worthy film. Those are 2 separate things.

Coming from a dickhead prick like you, that’s a badge of honor.
