Please accept our apologies for the craziness surrounding your scores for predicting the SAG Awards and others. Twice we’ve had to recaluate the SAG scores and now it looks like we have to do it AGAIN because the tallies aren’t coming out correctly. Pls be patient.

Basically, the problem is this. Normally, when we begin a prediction event, we input racetrack odds by hand, based upon how we think the race looks at that point. But, for some strange reason, the initial odds we set for SAG didn’t kick in. Therefore, all odds for all nominees started at 100/1 and so some of you were able to place your 500 point bet on Cate Blanchett — and you won 50,000 points as a result. That’s ridiculous, of course. My tech team and I are trying to figure out what went wrong — why didn’t the initial, hand-set odds apply? What other weird things happened? Right now the rankings you see in your personal profile area are vastly different than how you rank in our leaderboards. What’s a fair solution?

I’ve made an executive decision. I’ve told our tech team to lock in the final set of odds, apply them to your point bets, run the results and scores ONE MORE TIME and let’s see where everything lands. This means we may not have a final set of scores until Monday morning. Very sorry.

So our predictions do not normally set the odds?  Points are just based off of what was initially set?

Yes, predix change the odds all the time, but you can’t start out our contest with everything at 100 to 1 odds when you KNOW that certain contenders are way out front. That gives the first people who predict an unfair advantage. So we set initial odds manually based upon what we think is fair, then those odds change based upon the vagaries of predix. Make sense?

For the SAG Awards (and maybe even the current Oscars — I’m checking), our initial odds WERE entered into the prediction center, but they were ignored in favor of universal 100/1 odds. We don’t know why — we’re investigating.

The current Oscars and Baftas definitely started at 100/1 for all contenders. (My predictions are almost all 100/1)

    Ah, I see.

One more question: How do we know which contests have the Amazon prizes attached?  For example, I assume that the DGA does not because only one category is in the predictions center.

My understanding was that the Video predix contest has a prize attached.  I’m not sure whether the full OScar predix has a prize.
