Of course, considering their long history of working with her, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron must seriously be considering Queen Latifah as potential Oscar host. Let’s weigh that choice seriously too: she’s a past Oscar nominee who starred in Best Picture champ “Chicago,” she’s a sassy, hilarious comedienne with one of the most divine singing voices on the planet (when belting out ballads, forget that rap crap). It helps that’s she’s black — the academy needs to look like its being more ethnically inclusive. And, bottom line, I betcha she’d be GREAT.

Granted, Queen Latifah might not be your first choice with dreaming up Oscar hosts, but now that she comes to mind, wouldn’t she be aces?

What if she was paired up with Jerry Seinfeld? Even better? Or should Latifah go solo?

This is an excellent suggestion. I think Queen Latifah would be a fabulous Oscar host. She would be a combination of Hugh Jackman and Whoopi Goldberg.

I think she’d be great as well! They better get her to use that voice!

I think Queen Latifah would make a fine Oscars host, and I’d go for her hosting solo. She has elements that some of the best hosts in the past possessed. She can sing, dance, do comedy, has a very charismatic personality, can work the room, experience hosting awards shows (though some of her luster might be worn a bit in doing these lesser shows), is a former Oscar nominee (“one of our own”), has a strong working relationship with the show’s producers, and like it or not, being a minority female/first-timer would be a major plus in her corner to tip the scale. This could be an inspired choice if they go down this route.

I think she could be sublime. She’s gorgeous, poised, quick, and personable. I’d personally like to see her go solo. No Seinfeld needed.

I would love it!!! She is so great at hosting the People’s Choice Awards, and who doesn’t love her personality? I think she’d be great!

Queen Latifah’s OK but can Zadan really coax her out of the closet–OOPS!  Shh, just pretend I never said that!

Actually, I prefer your second suggestion–Jerry Seinfeld. It would be hilarious to get Julia Louis-Dreyfus to co-host–they could discuss “The English Patient” again!

Or Jason Alexander–they could discuss “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” or even “Rochelle, Rochelle” (“It’s a long way from Milan to Minsk!”)…

They could even get Bette Midler to sing the theme song of the faux Broadway adaptation:

Well you made a long journey from Milan to Minsk
    Rochelle Rochelle
    You never stopped hoping
    Now you’re in the Pinsk
    Rochelle Rochelle
    When the nay sayers nay
    You picked up your pace
You said nothing’s going to stop me
So get out of my face
I’m having adventures all over the place
    Rochelle ROCHELLE!

Of course, none of this would make a shred of sense unless you are familiar with the sitcom.

I love Jerry, but is it fully OK to have television personalities hosting?  Or, does Bee Movie count?

Maybe that’s too elitist or stringent, wanting hosts who do films.. Dunno.

This is an inspired choice. Though if she gets called, I’d rather have her solo hosting.

She’s good. At least better than boring Billy (Crystal).

I would love to see Latifah host, but Jerry is my top choice. Obviously looking at my profile picture you may think I’m biased, I still think he would be amazing!
