They did this on Awards Circuit, but if you had to take one film that you loved that was snubbed almost entirely by the Academy, what categories would you nominate it in and what nominees would you replace? On a side note, it can be a film that has at least one nomination, but isn’t nominated across the board.

    Here are some of mine:

    Gone Girl (2014):

Best Picture: Replacing Theory of Everything
    Best Director: Replacing Morten Tyldum
Best Actress: Rosamund Pike (*already nominated)
Best Adapted Screenplay: Replacing American Sniper
Best Supp. Actress: Carrie Coon replacing Patricia Arquette
Best Original Score: Replacing The Imitation Game
    Best Editing: Replacing American Sniper

    Short Term 12 (2013):

Best Picture: Replacing Nebraska or Dallas Buyers Club
Best Actress: Brie Larson replacing Meryl Streep
Best Supp. Actress: Kaitlyn Dever replacing Julia Roberts
Best Supp. Actor: John Gallagher Jr. and Keith Stanfield replacing Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto (Cooper was more deserving of a nod for Place Beyond The Pines)
    Best Adapted Screenplay: Replacing Philomena
Best Editing: Replacing Dallas Buyers Club
Best Song: “So You Know What It’s Like” replacing “Ordinary Love”

How about you guys? I’d be interested to see what films you would avenge.

I would definitely put Drive into the race. But I’d also want to replace over half the nominees from that year, so will need to decide exactly who from which category

Replace Felicity Jones for Jennifer Anniston. If it weren’t for Julianne Moore I would want her to win.

In 1997…I have THE ICE STORM in the best picture race
along with nods for KEVIN KLINE  as best actor and JOAN
ALLEN  and SIGOURNEY WEAVER as supporting actresses
    and best original screenplay..
The academy chose to ignore ICE STORM  in all categories
    which i found unbelievable..

    2011: A Separation (besides FL/Screenplay)
Best Picture (over everything, really, but particularly Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close)
Best Director – Asghar Farhadi (over Alexander Payne for The Descendants)

2013: Inside Llewyn Davis (besides Cinematography and Sound Mixing)
Best Picture (again, it’s better than all the nominees but that it was widely ignored in favor of wiggy schlock like American Hustle is vomit-inducing)
Best Director(s) – Coens (over David O. Russell for a cheap Scorsese imitation)
Best Actor in a Leading Role – Oscar Isaac (an embarrassment of a snub by voters, only further rendered ridiculous by Christian Bale’s nomination)
Best Original Screenplay (over American Hustle)

Best Director – Xavier Dolan (over Morten Tyldum for The Imitation Game)
