Okay. What I’m saying is Kate is beloved enough in the industry to certainly win another one down the line. More than likely she will. And this is my unbiased opinion because I love both.

kate would sell her children off if it meant Oscar #2.

Atonement isn’t underrated here. Everytime it’s mentioned, I always see people singing its praises.

Ronan should have won for Brooklyn but Borie Larson undeservedly swept with an above average performance in a highly pedestrian film that is Room. She was also great in Lady Bird but she’s 4th best of that category. She was easily the best in 2007 but I didn’t mind Tilda Swinton winning.

Ronan is definitely not a Blanchett since they have two different styles of acting. But I also wouldn’t call her a Winslet since she isn’t desperate.

Saoirse is the best actor born in the 90s.
Kate is the best actor born in the 70s.

Kate Winslet is a GREAT actress. She is in no way overrated. Ronan is great though

Which is a shame, because her track record since her win for “The Reader” has been abysmal. Out of the 13 films she’s made since her win, only three of them have “Fresh” scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hopefully she’ll have a comeback with the Lee Miller biopic next year. If that doesn’t happen, we may well see her brushed aside by the likes of Saoirse, Pike, and Robbie.

As I said in an earlier post……she would have been the probable winner a just couple of years ago had Vikander been in the correct category…and we would even be having this discussion

Also Kate will always be popular if only because she was the lead in one of the biggest movie phenomenons of all time…..on to of being one of the most respected actresses in the game. Every actor and actor has a flop or two….or five….
But her performances never really come into question…

    You win some…you lose some

Had Vikander been in the proper category I think Jennifer Jason Leigh would have won that award rather than Kate. I don’t think they’d have given Kate a second one when Leigh (who was campaigning and actually seemed to be gaining some steam in that I thought she might even overtake Vikander) had been overlooked for so long. Up until that nomination she was probably one of the most acclaimed actors to never receive any major award nomination.

Ronan’s not a Blanchett. Her acting style is more grounded to be compared with hers and her popularity most closely mirrors Winslet’s at the moment. And that’s because they were starlets first. Blanchett in her 20s came across as a grownup.

i was saying that i hope ronan mirrors her(cate) awards run..

Leigh probably never had a chance, considering that she was contending with two entries of category fraud, as well as Oscar darling Kate Winslet. She definitely beat out McAdams, who earned a nod solely for the performance of the cast as a whole. She could’ve edged Mara out, but I would consider them both to be competing at a pretty close margin. Kate still seemed to have held enough critical praise and star status to come in in second place. Alicia won because she gave two breakout performances that year.

Had Vikander been in the proper category she would’ve missed best actress (as 2015 was PACKED) and been nominated for Ex Machina and won.
